Default Kung Fu is like the Chinese

It is very artsy and has a lot of style and looks pretty but I have to admit it lacks a lot of substance. Could you really defend yourself with the whooping tiger snake death claw?

No. Why? Because no art has ever been named "whooping tiger snake death claw."

Moron.

The worth of your observation is indicated by a single thing - "it" is a singular pronoun.

"Kung fu" is, to be frank, a term best translated as "skill" - often used in the positive as semi-old slang; to say that "his gung fu is very strong" would basically translate as "dude's got mad skills."

What it doesn't say is what that skill or skills are in. A skateboarder who just pulled off a mad trick has... impressive kung fu. A carpenter known for making beautiful cabinets, well... her/his kung fu is excellent.

So you just managed to insult every craftsman in every field born in every country at every time, due to the simple fact that you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. This is mostly because you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Congratulations, you're a moron.

Now, since you ask about defense, even if I assume you're talking about kung fu wu shu - literally, skills in the war arts... you're... still using a singular pronoun. If one is further hell-bent on being a twelve year old kidiot from BI and trying to restrict it to "hand arts founded over a century ago," as opposed to "the skills in the war arts of the chinese military in regards to the subfield of marksmanship" - you're still a fucking idiot. You're using the term "it" while there are probably several thousand such art with no relationship to each other.

To make a long story mostly consisting of telling you that you're an idiot into a short story telling you an idiot, the ever-so-trendy "brazilian jujitsu" derives directly from the chuen na practiced, if memory serves, among the northwestern bandits. Ergo, you should find an MMA gym and tell everyone there that they're all a bunch of pussies and that you'll kick their ass, and leave the poor, innocent people of W&C alone with your incessant and moronic trolling. You could even post video on the internet to "prove" how much more "1337 hXc0r3" you are than the aforementioned practicioners of said chinese kung fu wu shu.

TL;DR : You're a fucking moron, GTFO. 'n READ MOAR before you speak moar. Always.

I call bullshit. I study BJJ and to the best of my knowledge there is no direct link between any of the traditional chinese forms and the brazillian art in either structure or history. If anyone has proof otherwise I would be very interested to see it.

Excellent. Having people call bullshit is occasionally one of the hobbies I enjoy most.

In 1914, Japanese Jiu-Jitsu champion Esai Maeda immigrated to Brazil where he was instrumental in establishing a Japanese immigrant community. His efforts were aided by Gastao Gracie, a Brazilian scholar and politician of Scottish descent.

http://www.bluegrassmartialarts.com/...5/Default.aspx

Chin Na has been known as the root of the Japanese arts of Jujitsu and Aikido, and practitioners can use the study of Chin Na to increase their understanding of the theory and principles of their own arts.

http://www.ymaa.com/publishing/books...haolin_chin_na

Chin Na is what the styles Aikido and Jujitsu are mostly made up out of, although there is no style that is made completely out of Chin Na.

http://russellsacademyofselfdefensea.../28/chin-na-1/

Other accounts have Esai as a judo practicioner with a smaller amount of jujitsu knowledge, while the one above and others deemphasize any study in judo... but since judo and aikido are historically essentially jujitsu subschools anyway in their derivation, it's essentially moot.

Most histories have BJJ as having roots in japan... and japan's roots are solidly in china.

Like most martial arts that come to the states or any majorly populated areas, it gets watered down. Are you going to find any good forms of kung fu? probably not.

I came into this thread to set you straight but JoePedo already did quite a nice job of it. You don't even know what Kung Fu means so I think it would be fair to say you have no fucking idea what you are talking about on the subject

Yes. THE PEDO GUY IS RIGHT. Kung Fu means skill. The more accurate term is Wushu, which applies to all chinese martial arts. So basically, the weak, ineffective kung fu you describe could be Sanda (Very similar to Muay Thai) or Wing Chun (They can throw a punch from one inch away that will make you vomit). In conclusion: You fail.
