Default Help Me choose a career

Well I'm about to go into my last year of high school and up until last year when I took a programming class and found out I didn't really like it at all, i wanted to be a programmer. To be honest I not really sure what I want to do so I was hoping maybe the nice folks at Totse(lol) could help me out. I do like working with computers and fixing them but theres already like 15 businesses around here that. I was looking into becoming an electrician and found out some interesting info about it like you actually get paid while training in the apprenticeships and they have good pay once you become certified, but sounds like it may be a difficult thing to learn as I am not that great remembering a lot of things at a time or by simply seeing it done. I'm also not sure how to get into the apprenticeship programs. Heres a technical college close to where I live that trasins in electrical stuff(didn't mention appr. program though) http://www.bowlinggreen.kctcs.edu/index.php

So I thought if I could list what I'm looking for in a job then may be ya could help me out. I would like to be able to have variety in the things I do each day, also something that is somewhat easy to learn, an inside enviroment because it get pretty hot and humid here, doesn't really have to pay a whole lot just enough for say a average living(25,000-45,000) around here and if possible when I could sleep late(10 am) and work late(not really a must just a nice bonus).

Well any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Get a trade, electrician is good and comfortable and you do get paid for it. As an apprentice you work basic shifts when your not at college, pay also goes up every year until you pass. Dont worry about remembering everything in college it's just the same as every other course. If your looking for an apprenticeship look for a company and write them a letter asking them to take you, don't just go to college yourself and look for the course.

Other then that you could be a joiner, painter and decorator, plasterer, bricklayer or anything else.

Good thing about getting the trade is once your certified, you can leave and start your own company, or get a new career altogether and you can fall back on it later on in life.

If you like to stay inside do not become and electrician. They do a lot of work in cramped and damp conditions.

If you want an easy going job and late starts, don't even think about entering the trades.

go for the civil service.

How is it not an easy job?

Unless you're one of those guys who's too scared to do a little work.

ahh im a carpenter you fuck.

early starts, late finishes, you work outdoors in all conditions and it's hard physical work.

And before you say but electricians work inside, firstly they dont alot of the time and second of all it may not be as labour intensive but the maths is pretty tough.

so yeah, fuck off.

The maths is dead easy. Far easier than an electrical engineer.

Pay is really good if you only accept cash

lawl funny.

no the maths is pretty tough in comparison to most trades

I actually went to college though, and I'm intending to study as a project manager.

the practical experience of an apprenticeship and a few years in the field coupled with a degree is invaluable, considering so many come out of uni with no practical experience on a building site whatsoever.

alongside hard times finding work with the current economy, It's worth doing anything to put you a level up from the rest.

What exactly do you do for a living? aside from gaming if i recall correctly.
