Well I've heard of cases like mild paranoia and/or anxiety from super potent bud but thats during the high, (acute.) Or perhaps an allergic reaction to the smoke from some one that has asthma. Long term effects might include mild memory loss, I'm not sure about depression, and what ever physical effects that might come about from long term use. Physical health and mental health go hand in hand in terms of effecting one another.

If a person has a mental illness, he may smoke marijuana to help him mentally through that illness. Did the marijuana cause the illness or did the illness cause the excessive use of pot? It should jump at you that the mental disorder came first, if it doesn't you are retarded, but could look at statistics to prove my point.

There's a lot of misinformation on both sides about this. Anti-pot crusaders tend to add it as another one of their "facts" about weed, which of course leads all the pot smokers to dismiss it. I've personally seen it happen to someone I know. He did other drugs too but he hadn't used any drugs but weed for a month when he went psychotic. He ended up in a mental hospital for about a month. The doctors weren't sure what to diagnose it as so they just called it drug-induced psychosis.

He's completely normal now as far as I can tell, and still smokes, just not as much.
He used to smoke pretty heavily though. So if this is something you're worried about just don't smoke everyday, or if people(other weed smokers) seem to think your acting pretty strangely high take it as a warning sign.

ok, marijuana CAN bring out underlying illnesses. schizophrenia, paranoia and anxiety being some of the majors. now it cannot CAUSE mental illnesses. sounds to me like weed isnt "for" whoever you are talking about. most likely paranoia/anxiety but paranoid schizophrenia cant be ruled out.

lay off the smoke for about a month or two, then try it back out. you may like it later on.
