My friend was telling me about a song that Metallica made that sounds a lot like Megadeth. I was thinking it's Crown of Worms and Killing Time. Does &T know what it is?

Considering a healthy portion of Metallica's material pre-1989 was co-written with Mustaine and a trickling amount of riffs he cowrote with them have appeared since then, it really could be any number of songs.

Yeah. But do you agree that Killing Time and Crown of Worms sound similar?

Well, I should rephrase. The song "Killing Time" is actually by a NWOBHM band called Sweet Savage, but Mustaine played on their cover of it and later wrote "Crown of Worms", so he was channeling his own interpretation of another group's song.

They sound the same cause Metallica ran out of Mustaine-riffs around AJFA. When they ran out of Dave's riffs, they went "oh shit" and released the black album (aka, changed their music direction entirely).

While battles is mind-blowingly awesome, I'm not sure how they fit in this thread...
