question about benzos
I like to use benzos occasionally to get to sleep. (since I have trouble sleeping sometimes). Is there a downside to doing this a semi regular basis(once or twice a week).
Will I develop a tolerance that makes it too expensive to continue(currently I just take a 2mg I'm having trouble sleeping)? Will it get harder to fall sleep on days I don't use benzos?
Right now I'm using xanax since its the cheapest benzo available to me(2$ a bar).
Are there any OTC meds as effective as benzos?

Re: question about benzos
I'd advise against it, it might get to the point where you need them to sleep then you're fucked.
Benadryl, alcohol, weed, or melatonin work good for sleep.

Re: question about benzos
5-6 Benadryl will knock you out all the same. Cheaper.
Otherwise, no, none of the things you mention will be problems.

Although I understand your point for taking xanax to get to sleep(im a bad insomniac myself), I will just tell you dude to try to avoid benzos to get to sleep. Although they are extremley effective at what they do, they probaly work a little too well for their own good. Your tolerance will go up, especially since your using xanax which is a very short acting benzo(compared to lets say valium or klonopin). Yes, it will get more expensive(where not talking cocaine here, but it will cost you). Yes, you probaly will start becoming dependent and will need to increase your dose in order to fall asleep. And ill tell you from experience, benzos have probaly the worse withdrawals known in the drug world(one of the only classes of drugs that can kill you from a w/d).
Take it from me man, ive been a benzo addict for many years now, its just not worth it. I would of rather dealt with my anxiety and insomnia(Both of them which are horrible) then go to benzos.
And as for recommendations for sleep, there are numerous drugs/supplements you can try: Melatonin, or my favorite non-benzo sleep aid(besides seroquel). Doxylamine Succinate- aka the antihistamine in Nyquil. This shit will put your on your ass, and IMO more sedating then xanax.

um no....and its not a med either.
you cant walk in, grab alcohol, and buy if your under 21. an example of OTC would be like benadryl, where anybody can walk in and buy. and i dont consider alcohol to be a med, although it does have medicinal properties.

So by your logic, DXM (cough syrup) isnt over the counter either because you have to be eighteen to buy it. Dumbass.

Re: question about benzos
9mg Melatonin + 100mg 5-htp is a great OTC sleep aid, IMO.

Plenty of otc meds in the form of syrups contain alcohol.
And Tommy, you should try out different sleep aids, there are plenty otc ones such as benedryl, Tylenol pm, and melatonin. Everyone is different and certain sleep aids will be more or less effective to different people.
