Would this Book have a chance?
I have this idea for a book, that is partially based on a true story, but i doubt there is any chance in hell it would be published.
i want to write about this SS guy in WW2 who gets captured, and is in a US prison camp, kills another german soldier while there, then escaping.
I like reading books written about that time. And it would describe the condition in Germany before Hitler came into power, (and why so many people followed him and supported him) and also give background on the soldier, and say his family was killed by US bombings. I figure there is no way I could ever get this published right?

Re: Would this Book have a chance?
Sounds interesting but i doubt it will get published for two reasons, firstly, there are very few people that still enjoy fiction about WW2, and secondly, no publishing company would publish a book that glorifies(sp?) a nazi (if your talking about a non-nazi soldier, its been done). however if you want to write it in your spare time, I'd read it.

Re: Would this Book have a chance?
thats what i mean. nobody ever hears that side of the story. how things were in germany before hitler came into power.
the whole story is true. there was a prisoner i read about in a town close to me, and he was suspected of being SS, and suspected of killing another prisoner for kissing up to the US soldiers. he escaped, and all kinds of stuff happened. the cops shot some farmer they thought was him. i wanted to base the story mainly around the escape, and make it an adventure book, but also give insight into the germans minds back then. nobody really knows the story either, i found it in old newspaper articles. i know where the prison camp was, and all of the places mentioned. and the whole story sounded pretty cool, so i just wanted to write about it.
if i write it, i'll try to post it or something. it will be a long time probably. it just sucks it would never get published.

Re: Would this Book have a chance?
It might work as a required book for high school students, but I don't see it making you a millionaire.

Change Nazi--->Al Qeda,
WW2---> Whatever that's on now.
US prison camp---> US prison camp NOT located in US.
Also throw in some intriguing, and brief mention of your main character's confused sexual orientation under prolonged detention; and after some "experimentation", suffers inner guilt and shame, a possible motive behind the murder of his "partner"...
And don't forget to include the human pyramid thingy as well. Be sadistic. Forget morality. Denounce the norm.

Oh fuck yeah! this! Perhaps you could create a mythical Weimar scene in pre-Al Qeda Middle east. Treaty of Versailles wasn't there admittedly, but it may as well of been.

Re: Would this Book have a chance?
This book would have absolutely no chance (0) of being published anywhere except in hell.
