Right this is it....................
I have actually started a training regime, after breaking my ankle about two months ago, which is still pissing me off, anyway what do you think of this as a regime. I am currently 182 pounds(although in the morning i weigh myself and its 175 weird) and 5 ft 8.
Breakfast:
Cereal w/ milk
1 cup of strong black coffee.
Lunch
Two sandwiches(bread varies alot), spread with magarine.
filling either cheese or chicken with lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, spring onion, basil, pepper and chilli flakes.
Also a banana.
Din-Dins
This varies alot, could be chicken fajitas, or a cooked dinner with 5 types of veg, with potatoes and meat(pork chops, sausage or chicken).
Exercise,
Because my ankle isnt fully healed, I am cycling for 8-10miles a day, with my new bike, i'll get home do some pushups and situps, mondays, wednesdays and fridays i'll do weights.
I figured my caloric intake for each day is 1600-1800 calories.
With this diet and new exercise regime, do you think its good enough to lose weight(healthily, over a period of time)?
I want to lose about 19 pounds, is this possible?

Re: Right this is it....................
The caloric intake seems fairly minimal.
with increased exercise , it should result in weight loss.
to fine tune it, I'd suggest:
Lose the margarine.
Unless it's certified trans-fat free.
Still it's close to 100% spreadable fat.
Lose it.
Unless your'e doing an Atkins diet.
Lose the cheese... typically 30% fat or more.
There are better protein sources with fewer calories available, e.g. cottage cheese.
Lose the sausage, too low quality protein per caloriie versus fish and poultry.
Then there's the issue of being carb sensitive.
If you are, then the coarsest carbs are best for you.
High fiber cereals should be eaten.
When you say "cereal" for breakfast, it could be of the refined crap variety.
More than 10 grams of fiber per serving should be your goal.
+++++
Leg exercise is the key for weight loss.
push up, situps will add a bit to peripheral and core strength, but will burn next to nothing calorie-wise.
Bike , walk , run, climb stairs & hills. etc

Re: Right this is it....................
OK, Ive done cycling on monday, wednesday and friday, which included weights, pushups and situps. I havent lost any visible weight which obviously is expected, I feel great, so i intend to start cycling, then doing weights on the odd days until i hit my desired weight. How long do you think this will take?

19 pounds of fat = 19 weeks if you eat right.
rough guess
