If by "straightedge" you mean hardcore, then I really never got the appeal of this kind of music at all. I've never been able to tell two hardcore songs apart. And yeah, I realize my username is a Fugazi song.

In response to the OP, as a hardcore fan, i don't really give much attention to whether a decent band is made up of mostly straightedge members or not. If some songs are about being straight edge, then I can't relate, but I can still dig the music if it's from the heart.

They also have a strong tendancy to ruin the dance pit during shows, by basically hitting everyone NOT in the pit, and, the best one yet, during one of the bands I played with they, I guess, didn't like their music, so they sit in the middle of the fucking pit, and rush through it and push everyone who's two stepping.

These are the same fucking people who went to a Pierce the Veil/Emery/As Cities Burn show to throw down, and walk through the pit flipping the bands off when they don't play a breakdown. Dr. Acula said it best. "Fuck your ego, fuck your scene, all your shorts are brown and green (camo)." So much for the fucking music.

Man we live in different worlds. I went to a show in Orlando, Florida(1hr from me) and I met this kid from Michigan. he described the scene the same way you did. The sXe kids in florida are nothing like this, there's also not a very strong sXe scene here either. Shits fucked up, the kid said that he got jumped for smoking a fucking cig?
