Thumbs up Dr Dog

http://myspace.com/drdog

This bands from my hometown, so I have to represent. My friends known one of the guitarists for a while now, before they came into their recent fame.

In the past two years, they've been on the likes of Leno, Letterman, Conan, and featured in Rolling Stone (who compared them to the Beatles and the Beach Boys.)

If you give their songs a listen you can hear similarities in song structure. Dr Dog also does a lot of three part harmonies similar to the Beatles. Simple, yet very fitting drum beats, bass being used as a lead instrument (McCartney pretty much popularized it), and have their fair share of psychedelic bits in their songs.

Anyway, give them a listen. If you like them, they're touring the country right now and you won't pay more than $15 a ticket, and that's pretty much the same price for a movie. Plus, it's a lot better than a movie (except The Dark Knight.)

I've seen them 3 times, and they put on a helluva show every time.

Illadelph represent. Dr. Dog is really incredible. What shows did you attend? Did you see the one at the Fels Planetarium in the Franklin institute? I've seen them 3 times too.

So what's your favorite album? I gotta go with toothbrush.

I just saw them at The Chameleon Club in Lancaster, and the TLA last summer. I can't for the life of me remember the other venue. But each time, fucking badass.

Real toughy as far as favorite album goes. I really like what I hear from Fate but I have too many songs I like way too much from all their albums to pick just one.

Yeah, my favorite album I've heard is We All Belong. Old-style good times music. I imagine I'll go see them in Austin when they come down here.

And yeah, they do sound a lot like the Beatles. Also sometimes reminds me of Ziggy Stardust Bowie. I think they really just sound like they came from that time-period... they're like the perfect 60's/70's era rock counterfeit.
