Boosting Cars
So there are a couple chopshops around my area that need cars. We're talking about little honda civics that need to be scrapped not some gone and 60 seconds dream cars. What is the best way to boost a car and what are some of the best tools that are used?

Re: Boosting Cars
I actually really should update that guide, it doesn't really help in terms of getting it off your hands or actually keeping the car for yourself (yes there are ways).

Re: Boosting Cars
I too am wondering how they make stolen cars usable short of taking it completely apart and then rebuying the frame at a police auction.

a chop shop is a slang phrase for an illegal location or business which disassembles stolen automobiles for the purpose of selling them as parts.

Re: Boosting Cars
By usable I mean I could drive it on the street, legally. I doubt that could occur, I'd just have paint it put plates from some other car on it and hope I don't get pulled over.
And I don't know of any chop shops in my area....

Re: Boosting Cars
I'd only steal a car for short-term transportation or chop shop.
I used to know a couple of guys around here that ran one, but I'm pretty sure they might've gotten shut down.

Re: Boosting Cars
ok kids, i'm gonna share some knowledge.
first, if you want to keep it and drive it. buy another car like it wrecked for cheap thats got a title. you can also go on craigslist or ebay and find people that are parting out similar cars. then just buy the shell of the car stripped with the title which can be done for a few 100 bucks. switch the vin plate on the dash out and drive it. also i've never had a cop look at the vin if the plates match the year/body style of the car you're good. don't waste time re painting it unless you stole it from down the street.
second, the easiest way of getting decent cars is from dealerships. think about it they give you the keys when you test drive it. you can either make clay impressions of the keys and make your own new keys or just switch them out. If you go to the dealership on saturday 20 minutes before they close and ask to test drive it just take the keys with you and give them keys from some other car that has the same style key. come back that night and take it. it won't even be reported stolen till monday which gives you a nice window of time. hit little dealers that won't ask for id and won't ride with you and go like 100-200 miles away from your house. if you get a parts car before you steal the keeper you'll even have clean plates for the drive home. plus you have the right door and ignition keys. makes things simple.
you'll also know how much gas is in it, how it runs and how it drives so there's no suprises on the way home. you jack something out of someone's driveway and good chances are it'll be reported pretty quick. you also have no idea how loud it is, if it runs, if its got enough gas to get away from the area, ext.
plus if you're like me i personally don't like ripping off average people. but ripping off a dealership they have insurance for that kinda thing.
if anyone's interested in learning how to make a good set of working keys from clay molds i have some pics from when i did it and i could write up a nice guide on how to do it.
