| Games People Play Games People Play is where to discuss personal computer, video game console, and arcade hardware and software - be it RPG, Sim, Strategy, Fighting, Action/Platform, or any other category. Although discussion of modern platforms/software will most likely dominate, discussion of classic videogame/computer hardware and software is always enjoyable, and certainly welcome - ESPECIALLY since there are public domain/shareware emulators of nearly every older computer/console available these days. Here's a taste of what awaits you: Nintendo-vs-Sega-vs-Sony, Console-vs-PC-vs-Mac, Hardware spec sheets/information, Industry news and discussion, Software reviews, IRC conference announcements/Reports, Emulators, Emulators, Emulators! ... and much, much more! |

Re: Best board game
I've always wanted to play LIFE. Never got the chance too.
I love a game of Chess, but Risk comes at a close second.

LIFE, and any other game that relies entirely on luck, is complete and total shit.
I'm quite fond of Khet myself:

It's actually a lot of fun, and it really the best description is a combination of chess and checkers, at least in terms of the strategy.
It's closer to checkers in how easy it is to learn because there's less pieces and they all move pretty much the same (although two of them have a special actions), but the strategy is closer to chess, especially since you're goal is to eliminate one piece from the opposing team's side, their Pharaoh.
I was initially interested in it because, let's face it, a game that revolves around eliminating the opposition with lasers is cool as hell, but it's actually a very deep, complex game.
