So a friend and I went to QFC. Our plan was to find a couple of zippos, ex-lax and gold bond. We couldn't find zippos or the right kind of gold bond, but we got the ex-lax.

On the way out I was going to try a scam I read on totse. Basically what you do is you give them a $50 bill and buy an item under $5. They should give you two $20 bills, a $5 bill, and some ones. You then pocket a 20 and accuse the person of short changing you. They will then give you another 20, and you just made around a $17 profit.

But this lady gave me a 20, a 10, four 5's, and some change. I am wondering if shops are becoming aware of this scam, or if she was just giving me weird change to hassle me.

I'm curious, what keeps them from just watching you pocket the 20?

That's a piss-poor scam, so it's no wonder you found it on totse. I'm sure it was in this section (BI). Most times when it's a big bill the cashier will count it out to you in your hand so you cannot "pocket" anything.

So you bought an item with a $50 note, the item was under $5 and you got a 20, 10 and four 5's in change?
