Reinventing Myself - Lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks...
Hey guys, it is time for me to crawl out of my shell and show the world what I am choosing to do.
I have always told myself that I will be going on a diet and get my body to a normal physique, and every time I have tried, I fail. I made a website to FORCE myself to not give up and shed the excess pounds. Under the eyes of the world, I can not give up, for if I do, I will be laughed at and humiliated for not achieving my goal. The only choice I have is to stick with my diet and exercise plan and win.
http://www.davidloses.com
I weigh myself every Friday afternoon and post a picture of what the scale says and every 3rd week I post progress pictures of myself. Since my last weigh in, I have lost about 15 pounds in a total of 2 weeks. Not bad considering the fact that I was only doing about 20-30 minutes of exercise a day. Now, on the 3rd week, I am going to the gym and going for about an hour and as each day passes, I feel I can stay much longer than the day before.
I have gotten tons of support from my friends and family and that is what keeps me going and stops me from eating things I should not. Well, I DO take a day off on Sunday but make sure I don't go overboard and go right back to my routine the next day.
I am posting this for myself. The more people know, the more I am able to keep what I am doing.
I do want to ask you guys for a favor that will only take you 2 minutes of your time. Tell 2 of your friends, and tell them to tell 2 of their friends, which will eventually grow exponentially. The world must know that losing weight is simple and anyone can do it without some crazy diet or gimmick sold on TV.
Thanks for taking the time and reading my thread =D
Thoughts, suggestions, comments welcome!

Thanks guys!
I was just told by a friend that I should be eating like 6 times a day and avoid things like cereal and rice.
To boost up metabolism
What do you guys think about that?

I hear protein is good too, for weight loss.
About carbs, don't restrict them too much, but definitely do some workouts so as to not store them away as fat.

Re: Reinventing Myself - Lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks...
The 15 pounds you lost was NOT fat. In fact VERY LITTLE of it was fat. You were likely retaining a lot of water that you got rid of (which you should hurry up and try to replenish).
Losing weight extremely quickly shocks your body into storing fat in triglycerides. It starts metabolizing your muscular tissue for energy.
NOTE: Muscle lost through this type of myolysis NEVER comes back. There is a permanent loss in the number of cells, not just a loss in their mass.
^There is also a significant drop in metabolism^

Re: Reinventing Myself - Lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks...
Interesting that you paid for a dot com to document your loss.
seems like a decent incentive.
You should calculate your daily caloric input.
At nearly 400 pounds bodyweight, you may run into a situation where you've cut your calories too much , and now your body is attempting to stop the rapid weight loss which would lead to your death.
I lost 20 pounds in 26 hours once, as an experiment in water compartment manipulation, as a graduate student.
I went from 182 to 162 by over-hydrating, overeating, then dehydrating, defecating and not eating.
On a scale, I lost 20 pounds in a little over 24 hours.
Nearly none of which was fat.
I was back to normal weight (175lb) in 2 days.
So 11 pounds in two weeks could be ... who knows what?
water, muscle, fat ?
unknown , to me at least.
Prepare yourself for the long haul.
It could take nearly a year to get under 300 pounds.
And another year to get close to 200 pounds.
But I don't think you went from 200 to 400 pounds in less than 2 years, either.
Sometimes the unraveling takes as long as the raveling.
I think you can do it , though.
Good Luck!
But most of all, persevere.

I don't believe this. Christian Bale lost 63 lbs in a few months, eating very little and exercising alot for "The Machinist". Then he gained 100 lbs, alot of it muscle, in 5 months for Batman Begins. If you've seen the movie, you'd see he's ripped.
So you see why I'm hesitant to believe that muscle cells are permanently lost even aftger severe malnutrition. He gained more muscle mass than he'd ever had before.

Re: Reinventing Myself - Lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks...
this is why i look at my apperance, instead of my weight when im trying to cut the fats.
This is not as motivational, but i dont really think i need that.
I have lost around 50 pounds so far, but im still too fleshy for my liking.
Also awesome initative, but remember, this is gonna take you a long fucking time, so you better prepare for that. But you will feel much better when the pounds start dissappearing.

Re: Reinventing Myself - Lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks...
You know, this thread gives me hope in humanity.
I, like many other people as well as you, was unfit and out of shape, and always wished to be the exact opposite. Most people complain about it and just give up, but as I did and as we can see you have began, you carried through. I wish you the best of luck on your weight loss, and applaud you for actually doing something about your situation.

I didn't say you permanently lose the ability to gain muscle mass, nor did I say you rip half of the muscle off your body. I said you lose *some*
The people that it hurts the most are the elite combat athletes (mostly boxers) who have to get into a tight weight class.
Its a shame I can't remember the name, but there was a pro boxer in the 80s (my nutrition 249 teacher told my class this story) who started fighting at welterweight and kept cutting to get down to class and as he cut weight, he would gain it all back in fat and water. anyways, in less than 10 years he was fighting at heavyweight or some shit like that, but couldn't punch his way out of a paper bag because he had fried himself crash dieting EVERY year.
Naturally the OP is going to see that kind of damage...
I also didn't realize he was 400 pounds. If he had been about 200 and lost 15 pounds of nothingness, it would have been seriously unhealthy. But at higher bodyfat levels, 20-30 of it can drop off in weeks. It's often gnarly stuff like toxins in the water stored in fat cells and colon scum.
But yea! Good job for taking a stand for your health. I look forward to hearing about your progress. Totse can be your disfunctional weight-loss family

Re: Reinventing Myself - Lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks...
That little piece of information comes from a University Sport Medicine class You're right, it's an obscure piece of information that doesn't pop up in your moms diet advice forum and unfortunately I sold my relevant text books.
I'd like to know what your credentials are that you can definitively say that I am wrong about that. You seem to be very sure, and if I really AM wrong I would like see some information otherwise so I'm not mistaken on the matter.
If it means anything to you Scrilla, I wouldn't have posted if I didn't know that for a fact. The information come straight out the mouth of my professor with a PhD and 20-someaught years of teaching experience. I understand if my wording sounded contrived to you, I'm no author.
