Default Knee pains, very frequent, possible to get painkillers?

So ive been having really bad pains in my knees almost making it hard to walk. just started happening recently, already went to the doctors once and he gave me extra strength anti inflammatory medication. the medication hardly helps so I was wondering if anyone thinks it would be possible to request painkillers for this? are there any extra things I should say to the doctor to make him more likely to give me painkillers?

Maybe if you weren't so fat your knees wouldn't hurt when you walk.

Requesting meds, especially painkillers, immediately sends up red flags to the doctor. Do you want painkillers for therapeutic or for recreational reasons? If it's strictly for therapeutic reasons, chances are you're better off with an anti-inflammatory, especially for arthritis.

Well, I do infact need them for my knees as they are in alot of pain. but I also enjoy painkillers. I am taking anti inflammatorys but they dont seem to be doing the job. Im still in alot of pain after taking the medication.

instead of requesting should I just say that my knees are in alot of pain and ask if theres anything i could take for them?

Before a doctor will give you any sort of meds like that they will more often than not send you to physical therapy or some kind of pain management. If the pain persists, and they have physical tests to find this out for certain, you will get what you're looking for.

These kinds of things are not often handed out to the younger crowd, so don't get your hopes up.

If you ask for anything, that pretty much guarantees you won't get it. If they suspect you're a drug seeker, it will go in your file, so other doctors will see this as well.

Be careful what you say.

They won't give you oxys for arthritis. Your arthritis is never gonna go away, and you aren't going to be started on the path of lifetime addiction because your knees hurt.

Go back to the doc, get some diagnostic tests done and figure out whats wrong with you. If you have some terrible degenerative knee problem, maybe he'll help you out, but I don't think thats worth it.

If it is arthritis, there's medications.

If your pain is real, ask for meloxicam. It's an excellent NSAID that I use for MY knees. You won't get drugs. I had my leg ripped up by an auger, and had to fight to get hydro, which are worthless for my pain. All opiates are actually. I use lidocaine.

Actually yeah man, lidocaine patches are the SHIT for sore knees.

Ok, im glad to see there is some form of medication that will actually help my knee pains. I figured the opiates would help with them but if they dont then I wont even ask for them
