intregueing so you are a shaman. that is quite interesting, so how exactly do you take a shamanic journey to the underworld. is there drugs involved, fasting, do you have to wonder out into the wilderness. this might be off topic but i am really fascinated

I read a book on shamans a long time ago, it talked about how these creatures (us? disguised as us?) came to earth to hide from another hostel entity (reptilian like creatures).

And also the underworld is like a spiritual dimension created by imagining a tunnel like passageway into the ground.

Spirit animals are protectors and sources of energy in the spiritual world. They can have physical substance in the our world that are represented by talisman like objects which can be used in healing rituals.

That's an interesting look at the mythological concepts of spirits in Germanic cultures, such as dwarves, elves, trolls. It kind of puts everything in a whole new light.

I have not read this thread but judging from the topic. Google: "your brain on god helmet magnetic" And you will see some really cool exparaments were people sense things/people around them when they were the helmet because of the magnetic field aimed at there frontal lobes or something.

The answer to OPs questions depends on who you ask. The 11:11 bunch, a group of Urantia book readers, posits that there is a group of spirits known as midwayers who perform much like a combination of trickster god and guardian angel.

As a shaman, I have two power animals--sopirits that function much as the Xian guardian angel, but more as advisors. Maybe like a Wiccan has a familiar, only these would be like invisible familiars.

(BTW, a power animal is NOTHING like a toem--totem is a word that gets thrown around loossely these days. Strictly speaking, a totem is the symbol of your clan--if you belong to the Bear Clan, for instance, bear is your totem and may or may not also be your power animal.)

Methinks you are in thralled with shamanism. Power animals, to me, seem much like anthropomorphized creatures who take on these 'adviser' roles. I.E. Fox tells me to be sneaky and smart. Bear tells me to be powerful and strong. Etc. Much like how children internalize the voices and ideas of their parents, being able to consult them when they aren't around. In the same way, people take up animal guides as a form of mental protection. It's like children who have imaginary friends. ;)
