Barbituates and Caffeine?
So I have some APAP/Butalbital/Caffeine pills, and I was thinking of taking three to relax for the rest of the night since I have no pot. Anyway, would the total of 120mg caffeine give me a speedy effect, or keep me awake? I thought these were supposed to be muscle relaxers, so I don't understand why they put fucking caffeine in there. The bottle says may cause drowsiness as well, so I am quite confused.
And yes, I've done the research on it, but erowid has surprisingly little information on barbituates in general, and nothing on butalbital.

Re: Barbituates and Caffeine?
120 mgs will most likely not keep u awake, cause im sure the barb will counter it. That isnt even that much caffine compared to caffine pills which are 200 mg, a cup of coffee is between 60-150, energy drinks go between 50-250, and soda is about 60mg. You shouldnt have a problem at all.

Re: Barbituates and Caffeine?
i think they may have added the caffeine to try n counter-balance the drowsiness
also, caffeine helps revlive post-workout muscle tension, so idk

Re: Barbituates and Caffeine?
I took three, and it did jack fucking shit. I don't know if it's because of my tolerance since I've been taking like 1 every four hours, but overall I'm disappointed. I drank a glass of wine to hopefully potentiate it as well, but nothing.

Guess I could go ahead and drop the last two, but if the first two didn't do anything I'm doubting the last two will. Maybe I'll go ahead and do that and drink another glass of wine.

Re: Barbituates and Caffeine?
The caffeine acts as a potentiater for the butalbital and APAP. While you shouldn't expect any effects from the caffeine, it may affect you if you are sensitive to caffeine.
This is the same reason they put caffeine in max strength migraine formulas.
(Did I spell caffeine right?)

Heh, it actually is for migraine's, so you're spot on. I just took the two and I'm working on this next glass of wine. We'll see how it goes.

That picture has nothing to do with the post. Look for my post in HB (or was it SG?) to learn why I am doing that.
Anyway, for anyone following along butalbital fucking sucks. I ended up taking a total of 5 and drinking 3 glasses of wine, and I'm pretty sure I felt the wine more than anything. Anyway, I'm disappointed.

Re: Barbituates and Caffeine?
They make pills that are just butalbital/APAP without the caffeine, I used to get 90 a month for migraines and those were good. I think the caffeine isnt just for migraines but also to lessen the abuse potential. Give that stuff another shot sometime, take 5-6 at once w/a shot or 2 of hard liquor, you'll feel that for sure. Alcohol makes the pill kick in faster for me, and the feeling is a lot like the feeling of alcohol so you might just have thought it was just the alcohol you felt when it might have been both. If you do what you did and take a couple more every once in a while you keep ingesting caffeine with the butalbital, whereas if you take 5 at once you feel caffeine and butalbital and then about 2 hrs later after you took the pills the caffeine wears off and you should feel just the sedative. But if you keep putting more caffeine in your system then the sedative keeps getting counteracted. Hope that makes sense.
