I know, these threads suck
But if I have legitimate back pain, as in a herniated disk/pinched nerve in the L4 and L5 of my back, could I get good medication? I mean, my right leg goes numb and tingly, and I get shooting pains down my right ass cheek through my hamstrings and into my achilles tendon which some results in my toes going numb. I've already had an MRI, so they know what's going on. They put me in physical therapy. But I'm thinking about going to a different doctor. Any thoughts?

I think you could probably get percs, or hydros.. but the thing is EVERYONE says back pain.. but at least if you've already gotten evidence of having a herniated disc the doctor will know you're not faking it like a lot of people do.. it's pretty pathetic when people who NEED painkillers can't get them because of a bunch of weak willed wastes of life try to abuse the system so they can get high, when really they could be doing something else with their lives.. and they fuck it up for everyone else. one thing that's really gonna be a factor is your age.. meaning, if you're older (40-50) you'll almost definately get something good for something like that. if you're younger (teenage, early twenties) they might stick ya with some t3's or something shitty. good luck though. oh, and if you do end up getting something good , take it as the script says and don't fuck around trying to get high, cause you'll run out.. and it sucks running out un-prepared with drugs like that.. especially when you're already in pain ( not from withdrawal ).

Re: I know, these threads suck
What you get will largely depend on two factors:
1) Whether or not your injury can be seen on an x-ray
2) Your age
If you can see it on an x-ray or if you're over 40 you have a decent chance at getting a worthwhile prescription.
Your main goal though should be getting better though. Do what your doctor says and if medication is required im sure he'll give you some. Refusing to do physical therapy and doc shopping means that you're not really injured and are just trying to get drugs.

Depends mostly on the doctor, you cant really say for sure. Hydro's for sure, but if your in bad condition you shouldnt have a problem getting percs. It all depends on the doctor

Re: I know, these threads suck
When you see your doctor ask them to send you to a pain management clinic.
Once you go there they'll do a series of simple tests to determine if you really need the medication. If you're problem is as bad as you say (which does hurt quite a bit, I have two slipped discs in my lumbar), then you should be able to at least get some percocets or hydrocodone.
Also, MRIs will generally show some things that X-Rays can't. Getting both wouldn't hurt, if you have insurance that can handle it. Your problem will show up on one of the other, if not both.
Only problem is, if you give up on physical therapy that will raise some red flags. Once they determine it's a legitimate problem just be persistent on saying how uncomfortable the injury makes you. I know first hand how hard it can be to sleep sometimes, or how much it hurts to sit/stand for too long or lift moderately heavy objects.
After 2 1/2 years of opiate addiction, I stay away though.
Weed and massages work pretty good for me. I just cope with the pain.
