This is pretty damning, because Carmack is basically a programming genius, when it comes to people who know their shit, he's about at the top of the list. This is the guy who just about invented the FPS genre with Wolfenstein3D, and the guy who popularized online multiplayer, and the guy who made the Quake 3 engine in 1999, an engine so amazing it's still in use today, you may have seen a modified version of it running Call of Duty 4. Pretty much the most impressive looking game graphically at E3 in my opinion.

Now, I know the PS3 is a powerful system, but I find it absolutely hilarious that there's this misconception about it being more powerful than the 360 despite the fact that it has a much less powerful GPU, and time and time again the most talented developers in the world like Gabe Newell and John Carmack are saying it's the weak link in terms of multiplatform development. Of course, the proof is in the pudding, for every one multiplatform game that looks better on the PS3, there's 10 that end up running and looking better on the 360.

I just find it funny that millions of idiotic Sony fanboys bought into all the lies about how powerful the PS3 was, and they're so stupid that even after it's been out for so long, and it's not shown anything above what the 360 can do and in fact has failed to even match it in most instances, they still believe the hype machine, they still go around spouting off bullshit PR rhetoric about FLOPS and FPP. I like it when intelligent, successful people make childish peons look like the lemmings they are.

And frankly, as a PC gamer, this interests me quite a bit, because it's really disheartening that developers are still letting consoles hold back PC games. I'm really surprised that Id has lowered themselves to this level.

so it's hard to design for, and some guy apperently prefers simple developement? that doesn't mean curse Sony. nor did when Hideo Kojima said MGS4 didn't turn out to be EXACTLY what he had in mind (a previous thread topic of your's)...that didn't change the fact that it was still only possible on the PS3, and that he was still very proud of the outcome. he just had way too big of an idea from the start.

don't get me wrong; I'm not a Sony fanboy. I love the hell out of each console this generation, and the race is so close (I don't mean by sales), it's fucking devestating. infact, I'm seriously under the impression that the only people out there that give a shit about gaming is Nintendo. never have they tried incorporating anything else to grab your buy. and despite it's simple capabilities, it is stomping ass; which just goes to show what really matters in gaming. the games.

but all-together, I'd say I'd rather deal with two quality consoles (being wii and PS3) with few and primarily mediocre games, supported by hesitant and frustrated developers than I would a rocky, 30% chance of a hardware fuck-up that's only half of what it's suppose to be without it's paid subscription online service. now again, don't get me wrong...I love the 360 and alot of it's games. but I hate the fucking politics; and I hate the lack of support. I have an original xbox and 56 games for it. 85% of those aren't backward compatible on the 360. I'm talking quality games. now here I am with an xbox with the dreaded dead HDD problem, lack of original Xbox support service, and lack of backward compatibility to even play those games (as promised) if I were to buy a 360. oddly enough, you can play the first two halos right out of the fucking box, upon buying a 360. so where's my compatiblility for MvC2 and CvS2EO? oh yeah, that's right; they didn't sell worth a shit.

now what I find funny was the HD-DVD vs BluRay format war. not because HD-DVD (and somewhat Microsoft) lost. but MicroSoft's response upon being asked if they were going to incorprate BluRay into their consoles in the future. in short, the answer was no and that they were going to put all of their focus on the games, instead. nice one, microsoft. as soon as a new format comes around, jump the train and praise it up and down. but as soon as that train crashes, evac and in the meantime make clear that the games were just a partial focus in the first place.

now while Wii and PS3 are at lack of quality exclusives, you can always play previous titles based on past consoles out of the box, with no problem (unlike the 360's bullshit of a BC feature). until then, you'll just have to wait a while. the 360 is having it good right now because it's sticking to casually based games right now, in which people are comfortible with. it's thinking not back, nor ahead.
