Today I went and did a bunch of errands in my car and had no problems. I went home after I had picked up some brake parts at napa and my car sat about 2 hours. I went out to go to work, turn the key and hear a "pop" then a whistling sound and the car dies. I shit a brick, pop the hood, and see that I blew my carburetor base gasket out. Now how the fuck do you blow something like that out? All the gaskets were new due to the fact the engine was recently rebuilt. Anyway, I'm probably going to fix it this weekend along with doing my brakes.

Oh, and this thread has also experienced yet another epic derail.

I did think backfire, but she was running perfect before this. She still fires up the second you turn the key, but dies almost right away due to the massive vacuum leak.
