Is dealing worth it?
I buy half o's of weed due to my financial situation currently, I get about ten dollars ahead after i sell. Is it worth the risk? I mean I save money, but its at a risk...

Re: Is dealing worth it?
Depends really...
How much do you sell a week? Is that half o just for the week, or do you sell one a day, two a day, etc?
What's the law like in NY? I know here it'd be fine, anything under an ounce in poss. is a $50 fine at best, if they even bother to do that, NY I think has pretty strict crime rates, so that alters shit.

10 bucks every two days? Not really a lot of cash haha....How much time effort do you actually put into it? If it's just a passive thing where people just hit you up, yeah, that's food for the day, not really much, but better than nothing, especially if you're not wasting any time having to do it.

I need my own scale to kick things into gear and start makin some money. I haven't put much effort in this.

It depends on how much weed you're getting free.
If you're saying you only get $10, then no, it is not worth the risk.

Re: Is dealing worth it?
If you're getting half an o, and only getting $10 ahead, that's pretty bad, and would not be worth it. And if you got caught selling instead of just possession, that would be a completely different deal. The way you would make money from dealing is getting more than half an O, and selling it in smaller bags. Because if you're buying more at a time, you SHOULD be getting a way better deal, then if you sell it back in smaller bags, then you're going to make more of a profit. One of my buddy's gets a QP every few days and sells it within a few days and makes a fairly nice profit. But I never got into selling weed. I used to sell pills, and that was pretty the same idea, buy in bulk, sell it back in smaller amounts, even raise the prices if you think you can.

Nothing's 100%, but that's fairly safe. Use your judgment when dealing with customers, especially new ones.

You're not making nearly enough to justify the risk. Just stick to having a good job and buying some weed for yourself to smoke.

Doesn't sound like a very reliable person. Get a scale. If you normally smoke a lot of weed and know a lot about it, you should be able to tell good buds from commersh and shit, if you get good buds, up the price, or sell a little bit smaller bags. That way you're not fucking over the people you're selling too that much, but you're still making a decent profit.

Its not to much about how much weed you can get, its how much you an slang in one day. I've got friends who run around the city all day dealing weed to everyone.
In the end it all comes down to how many regulars buyers can you get.

If I get 28 grams for 120, which is 5.5 dollars a gram and sell 28 dimes so to speak you can make a profit of $160. That is a long shot, especially when I'll be smoking it too.

Re: Is dealing worth it?
you gotta be smart about everything--
1. safe meet up spots (not always the same spot either). if possible deliver or have them pick up directly (if theyre trustworthy enough to see your stash house)
2. keep phone convos to a minimum. a common thing around here is when asking your dealer you say "ey i think im gettin a hotel room tonight, its hopefully gonna be on the 3rd/5th/10th floor with means $30 bucks o 50 or 100 and so on.
3. knw your weights at all time so that you arent guessing how much more money you can make.
4. be very smart when rolling arond with baggies. hide in clothes well or within car extremely well.
5. SELL WHAT YOU KNOW.. dont go out buyin yayo if you havent got a clientel base for it. ive seen many people get themselves in the whole buying out of their league.
6. make a good impression on your upper levels so theyre more likely to save you the lasts of their shit, more likely to sit it straight or fat on the clock, more likely tobump their prices down over time.
7. dont allow yourself to be put in a position of being robbed, dont leave anything near people unattended (even GOOD friends), when out on the streets making a transaction keep the higher ground to avoid potential risk. dont allow anyone to know where your stash is within the house.
8. the risk you speak of is relative to your desire to get high. if you are constantly gettin stoned all day and breaking even at the end of the day and you're okay ith that then continue to do so. if you are breaking even at the end of the day and want more loot, you either gotta
a- cut back on your smoking
b- increase clientel
c- decrease the price you purchase the bulk in
9. with clientel, be very charasmatic so they dont even conceive you as a dope dealer, just a nice guy.
10. keep clientel to a minimum, the less players the less risk. if your regulars have a friend wantin the hookup, the regular buys it and delivers it to their buddy. let them middle man its better than risking potentially sketchy people to gank you.
11. keep your regulars around because their cash is the core of your operation. treat them like royalty, give them fat bags, let them kick if they feel the urge to etc.
the main thing im tryin to say is you just gotta keep your eyes open and be thinking in a business market sense as well as a paranoid cop fearing person. given both of those traits you will keep out of govt suspicion as well as profit more and more each day.
things may start off slow but trust me if your bags are straight everyone your small clientel knows will hear about it and start wanting to purchase through you.
thats all i got for now if you want more then say so.

If you get lucky enough you'll have people doing this. Buying a bag then the first thing they'll say afterwards is, "Yo dude, you wanna smoke a bowl?". Haha. But if you're selling, even if you're selling an O every 3 days or something, then you don't need to take THAT much out for a stash, because I mean, who ONLY smokes their own weed? Well, it does happen, but if you're selling, you're definitely gonna throw down with people and have people smoking you up. Just go with it, figure all the little details as you go along, it'll all come together.

Re: Is dealing worth it?
I wouldn't be doing it if I only made 10 bucks off of every half. I only do it a bit on the side, but by getting bulk at a pretty nice price for my area and selling at the normal rate I can make about 8 bucks for every gram I sell.

an open dealing operation is never worth the risk, so don't go advertising...
those that you consider closest to, deal to them. infact, become their go to guy, you being the chief buying the bulk, get it?

It's very worth it, if you know your shit. be careful, buy in bulk, don't get robbed, blah blah. People say fronting isn't worth it, but hey... if you know them well enough, you'll make bank. :)

Re: Is dealing worth it?
It depends on what you consider "worth it". What you are doing, is definitly not worth it, unless you're really young. Then maybe, but still, unless you have a really good idea of what your doing, flawless customer base, and enough motivation to work your way up to at least a QP, forget it. It's not worth goin to jail just to get a free bag every week. Maybe if you have no other source of income, but since you said you have a job, that's not an issue.
Bottom line is that even though it sounds stupid, it's true: most dealers end up dead or in jail. The thing that most people miss, is how long they spend in jail. Since it is in the same sentence as death, most people assume it's long time. It's usually not, but it still sucks. But if making money/free drugs appeals to you so much that you're willing to go to jail once or twice,(or three or twelve times), then yes, it's worth it. I'm not saying you'll go to jail for dealing, but you most likely will for something.

Re: Is dealing worth it?
I started out with halves too but I made brownies the key to sellin weed is to go all in I started with that half then got my legit paycheck and put it in to to get a QP take all your profits and buy the next size up ounce by ounce till you get your next paycheck to take a big step. Only front out amounts your willing to go to jail for if you have muscle "gang affiliations" its easier because you can send little hommies on "missions" to collect.A scale is a necessary people love seeing it weighed out in front of them. If you have the legit job you can recover from getting robbed and from buying bunk weed both have happened to me its just an occupational hazard like going to jail. set a cash out point where you stop upping the amount you buy I stopped at a lb because it has a nice profit margin you could also cash out completely and have a nice roll in your hand.
PS. 120 for an zip sounds like your getting raped you should shop around

Re: Is dealing worth it?
Whether or not its worth the risk also depends on your risk factors. You need to ask yourself two questions, "How likely is it that i will be caught?" and "What do i have to lose?"

'round here, "teh game" is usually the QP -> $5/10. Mostly, it involves walking around with a quarter ounce at a time in little stamp baggies in an altoids tin.
Of course, wandering around with little stamp baggies in an altoids tin jacks your risk, if such an item is found. Luckily, we've got a few things to offset this...
- Snitches get stitches.
- Entire sections of the city have basically been liberated from police control.
- It's a chill atmosphere. People aren't shooting each other over corners to hustle on. Instead, your dealer will at some point tell you "I just ran out/low. Let me introduce you to the other dealers in the area. They'll take care of your needs."
- Similarly, it's a low-risk client culture. If you roll into town and jack "just some dealer," we might not find out about it... but if you jack the homie who we've been chilling with for the last ten years, who just happens to have started up a business enterprise - you're cut out of the fucking circle, dude.
Figure out how many of these four are working for you,
As for $10/half... you're trippin. $40/8th, right? So... if you're buying a quarter for personal use from someone you sort of know, it should be about $75... but if you're a regular customer or low-level business, $70. If you're a chintzy bitch selling .4/$5 to people who can't find the dude with a quarter zip off a QP in preweighed $5s at the moment, that's $15 profit slinging off the quarter.
A half for $120, and you're at just over $8.50/g... $10/g, or $1/.1, and you're pulling at least $20 off a half. Bust it down to $20s and sink the .05, that's $40 plus one of those skimped .4 5-sacks to smoke every time you move a half. Even if you're buying your half from tinyweight dealers at $125, you're still pulling $35 and a bowl at a 1.7 $20.
Even if you're just smoking, you should know the game better than this, bro... don't you ever just smoke 'n chill with your dealers outside the buying, dude???

It"s actually $4.29 a gram. I thought that sounded kinda high, just means more money.
