Battling Depression
I'm too depressed to even write why I am. I can't help but feel extremely guilty about everything, like nothing will ever work out for me and I'll always be fucked over by some greater power that I cannot control and it's futile to even attempt to go against it.
I know if I go on feeling like this for awhile that suicide will look like the final jump to end my suffering and let the powers win.

Re: Battling Depression
I wish I could give you advice for a quick fix but there isn't one. The only thing you can do is hold on and savor the glimpses of happiness in your life even when things get the darkest. Don't think about how those moments are/became corrupted just remember that high you felt and how right everything felt for just one moment.

Re: Battling Depression
I know how you feel. Like you're down and no matter what you do or no matter how hard you try, you can never get back up and never succeed. No matter what you do, you just feel hopeless.
There's no easy fix. I know that's a shitty thing to hear, but it's important that you understand that life was never meant to be easy. Be strong, don't go and throw away your life.
Why let the powers win? Fuck the powers, who the hell do they think they are? God-damn powers, going around fucking up everyone's lives.

I swear to God I just want to slit my wrists and end this bullshit
Throw the Magnum to my head, threaten to pull shit
And squeeze, until the bed's, completely red
I'm glad I'm dead, a worthless fuckin' buddah head.

Yeah that's pretty much textbook depression. The best solution is chemical in nature. I suggest getting a prescription for some prozac, but buy generic brand, it's cheaper.
Know that you aren't defective though. Being depressed is a normal reaction any intelligent being has to existing in constrictive, boring, sexless anglo culture. Everyone does what they can to get by in our self-made hell, be it religion, work, sport, drink, delusion, you must choose your poison.
In this passive-aggressive culture, suffering is a virtue. Pain is sacred, witness, for instance, all those who can't get opium based relief, despite genuine need. "Normal" people are treated as pests, to be tolerated, nothing more. If you aren't rich or famous, you are expected to work to fund those who are, this is the essence of capitalism. Attention and devotion is fed on by the famous, who give nothing in return. Regan believed in trickle down economics, if you give the rich money, they will support us all. He was wrong, the rich kept the money, or used it to buy assets, driving up property prices while forcing others to lower their standard of living to cope. People spend so much money on oil derivatives, money that goes right to the fantastically wealthy oil company shareholders, or to the arabs, who, their own economy being as stable as a camel powered 747, invest right back into western economies in the form of "sovereign wealth funds", buying out overpriced western companies, one at a time. Television feeds programs on how to behave and how ideal life/the universe/everything should be, giving people unrealistic expectations while selling them crap. If only you had this new piece of crap, all your problems would be solved! If only you had the Zune, you would be sociable and popular!
All of this, and more, would be sufferable, if only there were some hope, some light for change, some stirring of discontent from the disenfranchised. There isn't. The rich have taken everything, even the self-respect, authenticity, and sadness of the losers, repackaged it, and sold it right back to those it was stolen from. People meanly hoard money to spend on nonsense they don't need. They hide behind curtains from violent criminals and terrorists they know are out there. The government doesn't represent the will of the people, but the people support them anyway. I wonder when will a government support it's people?
The losers don't realise what's happened, or want to realise. They avoid the big questions with the usual, religion, drugs, television, delusion...
Being depressed isn't abnormal. It's inevitable. Don't think about getting angry, that won't work. You'll just be another crackpot, mouthing off about government conspiracies or whatever.

That defines my feelings.
Thank you.
I feel better after drinking some beer and smoking some weed, filling my head with senseless hours of WoW and avoiding my idiot constituents for a great length of time.

Re: Battling Depression
you're not alone! i was diagnosed with severe depression a while ago. IMO the best cure is to go out get sunlight and socialize. i get depressed whenever i stay in for too long. i'm not going to look it up, but i'm almost positive sunlight does something with melatonin and helps to balance your seratonin. something like that.
as for drugs, weed helps a lot. alcohol does too, but don't go overboard. that can lead to worse problems. paxil and prozac did nothing for me.

Sunlight is fantastic, but in places like Ireland it's usually pretty crap. Especially during the winter. In December and January we get about 4 hours of light and it rains constantly. That's an exaggeration, but not by much. Also a lot of the people around here are evil cunts. I plan to move someplace poorer but nicer soon.
