catch up with science. the government can't keep information out of the publics hands nowadays. its impossible with the internet. secondly. you cant run a car on water. hydrogen powered cars will be the main kind of car in the future. there are already companies that are engineering special algae that eat sugar and spit out gasoline. if they are successful then are oil needs will be met and we wont really need to rely on foreign oil. the rest of the world will follow in making oil from algae.
if prices do keep rising it will be even cheaper to capture co2 out of the air and use other elements in a process and manufacture gasoline. the technology does exist to make cars more fuel efficient. the government cannot do a damn thing to keep science from getting out. so if there was a way to run a car on water...im sure the millions of engineers, hobbyists and scientists would have figured it out already and somebody somewhere would have made it and put it online. and at which point it would have gotten on those three websites above.
third.....X prize. there is a 10,000,000$ competition to make a fuel efficient car. and there is already cars that are getting 100mpg. and there is another one that is getting 200mpg. sooner or later oil will not exist in society. and if gas keeps getting more expensive, which it will, then people will opt to buy cars that are powered by alternative fuel sources.
futhermore scientists are developing solar cells that can be printed off and their effeciency is getting better and better. soon solar cells will be able to compete with current electric prices. solar thermal plants are getting more effecient also. and many of them are being built.
point being.....no body will give a fuck about oil in 15 years. thats my theory.
edit: china even announced that by 2030 they plan to put into orbit a mile long solar cell. the electricity generated will be beamed down to earth by microwave and will power all of chinas needs. solar cells in space generate 8 times more electricity then solar cells on earth. but with advances in the space industry....i see private companies or orginizations putting large solar panels into orbit to accomplish this same task. there are lots of space companies today and even more starting up. companies and scientists are saying that a cost of a ticket to space could easily drop to 100,000$.
