Trying LSD
Alright, I just got the opportunity to buy some acid, but the problem is one of my friends who has a slight history of mental problems in his family such as alcoholism and schizophrenia, and he was diagnosed with depression in the past and has some very small symptoms of schizophrenia such as seeing rabbits or bears out of the corner of his eyes when ever he's in a forest after he's smoked some weed and one time he claimed that he was rolling a joint in his kitchen and when he looked up he saw his sister standing there staring at him and then when he looked back she was gone and no one was at his house.
My question being, my friend having already taken mushrooms once and having no adverse effects, do any of you think that lsd could trigger or bring out schizophrenia in my friend.
If this my help at all, my friend used to act extremely agitated and go into angry fits at his parents when he was around the age of 11 and 12, but has seemed to grow out of these and may be treating an anger/anxiety problem with weed, as ever since he has started smoking he hasn't had any of these symptoms that he used to have when he was younger.

Re: Trying LSD
It is always a possibility to trigger mental disorders with any drug. The only way to know for sure is when he tries it, but at that point its too late. I wouldn't pressure him in any way to try it. Its usually best to play it safe. Also, How old is your friend? If he is under say 18, mental disorders have not completely appeared. He may still have a problem and not know it. He has his whole life ahead of him, he can wait a few years.

Re: Trying LSD
OP, That is exactly what it will do. If he already has schizophrenic symptoms (especially when he is showing delusions), then my non-authorized advice would be to not do drugs. Psychedelic drugs are known to increase the onset of full bodied symptoms(i.e what he might or might not experience when he's ~20), so if I were him, I would enjoy life as it is now.
The full blown delusions aren't going to be of loved ones and rabbits, they're going to be paranoid delusions of shady adults.

Re: Trying LSD
My grandmother has schizophrenia and everyone is a drug addict.
I got heavily interested in psychies esp last year.
and then got owned by an unknown amount of LSD. had to be in the 1000 mic range.
now life is alot different.
It's up to your freind. but i would say acid will screw more with his head than mushies any day.

and schizophrenia doesn't usually manifest itself until the young adult years.

Re: Trying LSD
Doing it once will most likely not cause him to go insane, or increase a latent or present mental illness. Though he is definatly still risking some problems down the line, he should stop smoking weed, and using hallucinogenic drugs.

Re: Trying LSD
Yea, LSD can bring out mental illnesses in a person that's prone to something like that. I think I read a few different places that hallucinogens (or maybe just acid) can't cause mental illnesses like schizophrenia, but can make them show up earlier if you have a predisposition to them. And tell your buddy if he doesn't already know, weed is a hallucinogen too, even if it's a mild one, it still is. I mean, yea it's fun, and it's his choice, but I wouldn't try to convince him into doing any hallucinogens because I'm sure it wouldn't be worth it at all. You don't always need drugs to expand your mind.
