What is it? For me its split into two, ORIGINAL Texas Chainsaw Massacre for best and Jeeper Creepers for scaryest. The Evil Dead 3 is pretty high though.

I agree on the original Texas Chainsaws being the best. Most recently I'd say The Descent was the most entertaining for me.

I commend the Blair Witch Project for its originality and financial success, despite its lack of apparent 'horror' until the end. Unfortunately, its hard to be entertained from it after seeing it only once.

More recently, 28 Weeks Later was a great zombie movie. The soundtrack was amazing.

I'd have to say Original Texas Chainsaw Massacre as well, that film rocks. Also 28 days later and 28 weeks also.

I like the classics. Every now and then I rent the original "Dracula" collection--it has the Spanish version, which is actually better than the English version, plus "Dracula's Daughter", "Son of Dracula," and "House of Dracula."

Also, the original Mummy--one of the creepiest film moments of all time is when the English dude goes batshit nuts when he sees the mummy perambulate, laughs and says "He went for a little walk."

Among modern stuff, I think John Carpenter's Vampires stands out, plus Tremors Two and Three and the remake of The Omen (AWESOME art direction).

I agree with the Omen remake, that made me jump like a little bitch, you left out Tremors 1

Thumbs up Re: Fav Horror

Well, I'll basically make my must-see list of horror movies:

I'm quite fond of High Tension (the unrated French version), mainly for the disturbing yet beautiful feel it has. Not to mention, the mother's death is easily one of the most fucked-up, disturbing death scenes I've ever seen on film. And what's better, Aja Alexandre achieved that without even showing much on screen.

I really like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. It's intense, well-acted, well-made, and when I first saw it in theaters, I'd say it was legitimately scary.

The Devil's Rejects is definitely one of my favorites, though I don't really know if it could be called "horror". It's dirty, disturbing, and generally fucked-up, but...doesn't really feel like a horror film.

I like the Phantasm movies, though amusingly, I don't think I've finished a single one (I usually catch them late at night on TV and end up falling asleep). Something about the creepy old man and the flying orb is just kind of entertaining.

Both Dawn of the Dead movies. The original is hardly scary, but it's fun and has great characters. It never gets old, and always tends to make me feel good. The remake is straight-up horror. I saw it in theaters and it was easily one of the most intense films I had ever seen. Great characters, great action, all the violence that gore-hounds could ask for, and just entertaining on all levels.

28 Days Later is haunting and beautiful. It's not what I'd consider scary, but definitely has some intense moments.

Wes Craven's New Nightmare. This is the last movie in the Freddy franchise, and the best in my opinion. I don't really find slasher movies scary, but some might consider this one scary.

The Ring. I'd consider this the scariest film on the list. It generally isn't very "in your face", but it gets under your skin, has a great plot, and has one of the best finales...evar.

I should also add that I enjoy most horror movies, even the crappy ones. There's lots of stuff from the 70s, 80s, and 90s that's entertaining. Go to the videostore and just grab something that looks good.

Not the shitty remake either.
