I've been browsing the Internets, and i can't find and idea were to start. So i come to the genteel people of totse. My pc a windows xp home. Wont load certain sites no matter the browser. Totse works but not gmail or social site or even porn torrent sites. Any help?

I remember seeing a "Solution for that" thread in T&T, it's probably a few pages back, I can't retain what I read (mentally 'tarded) so I can't give you an explanation.

Click Tools > Clear Private Data > check box for cache > Clear Private Data button

already did that. I have also flushed the dns, Run multiple virus scans and spyware checks, system restored to a month ago. I'm at a loss

Well have you tried the sites after turning the firewall off?
Or checked the settings for the Firewall?

I think it is a corruption of XP's winsock. Here is the program that you need. Download and run it. Follow the directions ans you should be OK.

Edit: You could try editing your hostfile (C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc) to include the URL of one of the sites that you cannot access and map it to its IP Address. If it works after that I would assume the issue is DNS-related.

No dice. Maybe if i give you a couple of sites that dont work? Google searchs dont come through, but my hompage is google and it pops up. Gmail refuses to work, as does facebook,yahoo and any other number of heavily trafficked sites.
