| Games People Play Games People Play is where to discuss personal computer, video game console, and arcade hardware and software - be it RPG, Sim, Strategy, Fighting, Action/Platform, or any other category. Although discussion of modern platforms/software will most likely dominate, discussion of classic videogame/computer hardware and software is always enjoyable, and certainly welcome - ESPECIALLY since there are public domain/shareware emulators of nearly every older computer/console available these days. Here's a taste of what awaits you: Nintendo-vs-Sega-vs-Sony, Console-vs-PC-vs-Mac, Hardware spec sheets/information, Industry news and discussion, Software reviews, IRC conference announcements/Reports, Emulators, Emulators, Emulators! ... and much, much more! |

If PAIN is a mediocre game...
then it's possibly one of the greatest I've ever played. I've been playing it here and there for over a week now. a code for a free download of it came with my PS3 bundle. just looking at pictures of it, I thought it would be pretty stupid. even more so upon reading descriptions.
...but it was free and so were 59GBs of my hard disk space, so I checked it out; and man, I love it. for those of you unfamiliar, it's a download title exclusive to the PS3, in which you slingshot characters across a fictional town, in attempt to cause as much damage as you possibly can. I know, sounds stupid. but it's surprisingly very in-depth, and addictive as hell.
alot of the humor is childishly crude. one way to unlock a new game mode is by crashing into things balls-first 50 or so times, and of course upon knocking down a construction worker, his pants fall down revealing his fat, caucasion ass. but aside from the nonsense, theres plenty of fun absolutely fucking everywhere. the stages are pretty big for what the game is. alot of things are destroyable. the physics are great (havoc engine, I believe). theres many, many different game modes; all of which are fun in their own way.
I'd have to say it's probably the best download title I've ever played. tons of content, posibilities and things to do. Graphics are outstanding for a download title; and atop that, the initial game doesn't cost anything to bundle buyers. I'd have to say if it were only a demo, that I'd buy the full game (for $10, I believe) upon playing it; and I'm definatly looking forward (though not anxiously) to new stages and content.
anyone else familiar with this game?

Re: If PAIN is a mediocre game...
...say what?
edit: oh, my bad...took me a minute. it comes with the PS3/MGS4 Bundle pack. I'm not sure if the other PS3 model variations come with the sample Blu-Ray or not (which consists of game demo videos, and various BluRay release trailers). it's on the little piece of paper in the area you'd usually find a manual. there is a code on it...you redeem it on the PSN, and it brings you to an automatic download of it.

Re: If PAIN is a mediocre game...
it's not the PS3 manual. it's the piece of paper within the blu-ray sampler case, in the area where there is usually a manual, as far as games (or piece of paper as far as DVDs).
sorry if I'm having trouble explaining myself, here.

I got my PS3 over a year ago and had no such thing...Ah well.
I did scam the shop out of an extra game and extra pad for free though

Do tell...
I want a Dual Shock 3, but I don't have £30 to spend on a controller right now.

hhmm...awesome.
well be sure to check out a demo of it, if there is one available. better yet, take my word and buy it...it's only like $10. you can optionally chip out $1 a piece for the extra DLC characters, but they're nothing mandatory. the starting character and the unlockable cow costume guy work just fine.
