| Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. We want to hear what YOU have to say, not what some constipated, impotent, dead guy dreamt up while suffering from the DT's over a hundred years ago thought. |

McCain really wants public financing.

...basically because he can get private and public financing by exploiting a loophole in the McCain-Feingold law he helped write. So not only does he have no problem lying to everyone about wanting a clean race with public financing, Mr. No Pork wants the taxpayers to give him free money for his campaign with no strings attached. How's that for "Straight Talk"?

Well, Obama sure talked up public financing until he realized he could raise more outside the system. That's bullshit what the article said that Obama doesn't have the same access to rich donors and such. Of course he does, and not only that, what he is counting on is millions of small donors which has really driven his fundraising.
And correct me if I'm wrong, doesn't the money from public financing come from the fund that you voluntarily give 3$ to on your income tax return?

$3 isn't alot, but when $3 gets taken out here and here and here, it starts adding up. If you paid closer attention to McCunt's policies, you'd hear he seems to think that eliminating pork like this is important to balancing the budget and all that bullshit. And here you are talking about it as if it were a light thing.
At least Obama is being honest and not exploiting a law he himself wrote.

It isn't pork. It's barely part of the budget. You don't have to give money to the thing. That's what I'm saying. McCain isn't stealing from people. This isn't a bridge to nowhere type deal. If you want want 3 dollars to go to the fund, you check the box.

Yes, he was so honest when he promised to sit down with McCain and work something out. So honest before he sealed up the primary when he told people he was committed to public financing, when he knew exactly what they law said...Right.

And if no one checks the box, where does the money come from?

And according to Obama's lawyers McCain's lawyers didn't want to make any deal.

Contrary to popular belief, Obama can't work miracles to make people listen to him.

Fark, and it happened to be posted there. Honestly, I take the spin from Kos and HuffPo with a bag of salt, but they do seem to have a great disdain for neoconservativism and that's why I would give them the time of day at all.

Re: McCain really wants public financing.
Just confirms what they truly are. Rich old pricks who think they are above us mere mortals and can use and abuse the system all they want with no comeback. I look at John McCain and I see through his "my friends" bullshit and I see a twisted, black-hearted individual. He makes me puke.

Did no one check the box, or is this a hypothetical that is irrelevant.

"Bauer said such a meeting never took place prior to the decision, but he added that he did meet with McCain’s general counsel, Trevor Potter, about two weeks ago.
Bauer said he surmised from that meeting that the McCain campaign was more interested in using the issue for political gain than holding any meaningful discussion."
McCain's lawyer: "I met with [Obama's lawyer] on a different subject... about 10 days ago. During that meeting, he asked what Sen. McCain’s position was on public general election funding, and I said we were for it, and hoped Sen. Obama would participate as well. There was absolutely NO discussion of 'negotiations' about participating—the word was never mentioned.
So, the articles you posted didn't say anything about McCain's campaign not wanting to meet with them, it was a we didn't think he was interested, which is something completely different.
McCain's lawyer said it was Obama's campaign that wasn't interested. But, you naturally think he's the liar, right?
