I just became enlightened
Picture somthing in your mind, what plane is that image projected on? 2nd? 3rd? No. Minds process in the fourth spacial dimension, and after death minds continue to function in that space. This also explains ghost. 4th dimensional objects have "shadows" that project into our 3rd dimension, and the fact that ghost sightings always contain the deceased offers more evedence of my theory.

how not? 3d objects project a 2d shadow and if the deceased continue to exist in the 4th dimention, they could be projected into our dimention.

Is it the three dimensional sun that forces the 4 dimensional "things" to cast their 3 dimensional shadows, or.. what?

Also, explain how the brain operates in the 4th Dimension, just to clear the idea up a little.

This theory seems to work for you well. But you need to think it out more, dissect it, split it up as much as you can, and try to disprove yourself. You never know but you could be on to something. You can't just throw a theory out there, beat the fuck out of it until it has a Q.E.D coming out of its asshole, or keep doing what your doing now and see what other people think.

I think it's kind of dumb to be bashing Marsh's idea. It's his idea, he can believe whatever he wants, saying that it's stupid isn't going to change anything, and I really don't see anything dumb about it at all. It might be a little general, but it's a very interesting thought. You happen to be into meditation, buddhism, or any hallucinogens? They might help expand your idea, free up your mind so you can think more clearly, come up with new ideas. "Deep" topics like these are really interesting, the only reason someone might think it's stupid is most likely because they can't get away from their normal frame of mind. It's very hard to explain an idea like that using words because words can be interpreted in so many different ways, and we just simply don't have a word for certain things, and even making a word for it wouldn't do because it's nothing, just a symbol. Experiencing something is pretty much the only way certain ideas will sink in.

Again, the thread is titled " I just became enlightened".
So, when he does activate such and such? He'll be "enlightened" I suppose. But he hasnt. He has had a metaphysical idea. He has achieved no great truth or inner understanding, he has had a thought. If you are saying that continual thought and introspection will eventually bring enlightenment then I may agree.

Hey, hey. Here we encourage all ideas even if they're shitty. Critisize the ideas but don't critisize the actual act of getting and writing down the idea. Everyone's allowed to voice their opinion and think whatever they want no matter how much bullshit it may be.

Re: I just became enlightened
What makes you think minds process in a "dimension"? I would say they just work in 3 dimensions with chemicals and electrical signals, and the mind IS the workspace AND the processor. The key to this duality is that how the mind processes a signal changes based on previous signals (often via LTP). The idea (simplified, I'm sure) is that if a certain bunch of neurons fires because you're getting sodomized by an oversized lemur and at the same time a bunch of neurons fire because you're eating ice cream, these neurons become "associated". Next time you eat ice cream, the "ice cream" neurons would fire and the now linked "sodomized by an oversized lemur" neurons would have a higher chance of firing, resulting in the ice cream "reminding" you of getting sodomized by an oversized lemur. This association appears to be the foundation of memory. What's beautiful is that it doesn't actually explicitly store the memory itself; it rather mutates (not in the genetic sense) so that it can produce a reconstructed memory (lemur sodomy) when stimulated in the proper manner (ice cream eating).

What makes you think minds process in a "dimension"?
Depends on what you mean by mind.
If you mean your brain and neurons, you could say yes that operates in the 3rd dimension, as does every other physical thing. But now you should ask yourself, "What dimension does the third operate in?"
The answer to that is a bit mysterious, but I believe it to be a primitive truth when I say, "The Space dimension."

It does not operate in the 3rd dimension; it operates in 3 dimensions. This is a big difference, as if it "operates in the 3rd dimension", it must be one-dimensional.

The whole point of a dimension is that it is independent of the others (i.e. perpendicular to them).

Measuring the three independent dimensions together, gives you a 3 dimensional system, which is embraced by the Space dimension.

By definition, one dimension cannot embrace others. That's the entire point of a dimension.
And there is no "space dimension", given that space, as we know it, is at least three dimensional.

Think of the 4th dimension which is commonly known as time as a canopy above the lower 3 dimensions. Extending from this 4th dimensional canopy would be what I call the space between space. Do you not think that the lower dimensions are contained in time? Or embraced by time?
And there is no "space dimension", given that space, as we know it, is at least three dimensional.
Making the first 3 dimensions part of the space dimension, as well as any higher dimensions we can think up. Meaning that all dimensions are embraced by the space dimension.

Making the first 3 dimensions part of the space dimension, as well as any higher dimensions we can think up. Meaning that all dimensions are embraced by the space dimension.
First, let's make some variables:
t = a vector of length one along the time dimension
x,y,z = vectors of length one along the spacial dimensions
OK, let's assume for a minute that that time encompasses (contains) the lower 3 dimensions. This would mean that the time vector is made up of vectors in the "lower" dimensions, i.e. it is the sum of vectors in the lower dimensions. This gives us the equation:
t = a*x + b*y + c*z where a,b,c are real constants and x,y,z,t are the vectors defined earlier.
NOTE: this equation is equivalent to saying "some (a) x's, some (b) y's, and some (c) z's".
Everything that exists at a certain point in time would have to have an x coordinate (d), a y coordinate (e), a z coordinate (f), and a time coordinate (g). All of these would be real numbers.
Therefore, any object's position (INCLUDING TIME) would be described as:
d*x + e*y + f*z + g*t (think of this as "d along the x dimension, e along the y dimension", and so on).
BUT WAIT
based on the idea that t is comprised of x,y,z we determined that the vector t = a*x + b*y + c*z.
Substitute in and we get:
Position = d*x + e*y + f*z + g*(a*x + b*y + c*z).
By distributing, we get
Position = (d+g*a)*x + (e+g*b)y + (f+g*c)z
As, a,b,c,d,e,f,g are all real numbers, this means that that object's position, INCLUDING TIME, can be expressed in just three dimensions (x,y,z)! That would mean that time is NOT in fact a dimension, if we assume that it contains the three spacial dimensions.
This means that if time is a dimension, it cannot contain the three spacial dimensions.

I have only one problem with this...
Why the hell are you eating icecream while being sodomised by a lemur?
I honestly couldn't tell how to reply to this thread, it seemed dumb to me on so many levels (not just the ops theory, the replies too), and I didn't know which to argue against, and it just depressed me. Thankfully, someone like xarf came in and picked a point and just started laying on the logic and science, and made me feel much better.
I don't often read this forum so I don't know if vehemently disagreeing with everything that is said is 'in the spirit of the place', but fuck, you cant pull some half-cocked theory out of your ass, and then decide its true just because it partially matches one or two phenomena (that already have far better explanations anyway), and then, worse still, deem yourself enlightened because of it.
PS: Noone here seems to understand dimensions either, except xarf. A dimension (as I understand it) is simply one of the independent numbers required to describe where (in both space and time) you can find an event. They are not parallel universes. You don't travel between them either. You are in each one simultaneously. I have a point in an X, Y, Z, and time dimension, where you can find me. This means I have 4 dimensions. Do I cast a shadow of a ghost when I walk around? No. No I do not.
