Terminator Salvation
A teaser for the new Terminator movie was released today. From what I could make out, this one doesn't have a central "Terminator" character, which should be a refreshing perspective.

Re: Terminator Salvation
Two things.
One, does that take place right after the events of Terminator 3?
Two, hasn't the slogan "The End Begins" been used before? I swear I've seen it.

Maybe not right after, but it seems so.

Sounds familiar, can't really put a name to it.

Re: Terminator Salvation
Looks much better than I expected...
I never thought this movie could work, since the whole thing that made the Terminator series great was that it took place in our own world (pre-apocalypse). Having it set after the nukes fall made me think it was going to be more of a sci-fi war movie, but this looks more like a survival kind of thing, which could still be good.
EDIT: "The end begins" was the slogan for God of War II, though I'm sure it existed before that.

Re: Terminator Salvation
hell yeah. if you ask me, it should have picked up from T2 and went straight here. T3 was basically just "OMFG. robot sent back to kill john again. some-one protect him!" all over again. with T2 it was neccesary...plus there was a twist to it, which most people don't even recognize these days. they've become so use to it...no info leaked on T2. everyone upon it's release was under the impression Arnold was back to kill John, and that T-2000 was there to protect, until the shopping mall hallway scene. "Get Down!". when T3 wasn't a bullshitingly recycled plot, it was forwarning way too often that Judgement Day could not be stopped, but only pushed back. it was completely pointless.
it should have gone straight here, to the future war between machine and the human resistance. no explenation neccesary. we already know John is a leader in the future, so fuck it. get to the fucking war. but I think it's neccesary here. especially after T3 fucked everything up. now it's mandatory these days for backstory to be spoonfed to the dumbfuckers.
T1 and T2 were basically a circlular story until the conclusion of T2. it was meant to end there. they stopped the machines. they whiped out the CPU observed to create future machines, obtained by the T101m3 from the first one. melted. gone. no more terminators...but "NO. IT CANNOT BE STOPPED. NO WAY." says T3. "IT MUST GO ON, IT CANNOT BE STOPPED.".
so Terminator Salvation and it's trilogy of it's own will fillful this circle. it will work as Sequel, Prequel and Sidequel. and it finally fucking scraps the Arnold shit. as a huge Terminator fan, I really couldn't ask for more out of a series continuation. Bale will rock the Conner role. and Kyle Reese is in it, hell yes. some-one's atleast been paying minor attention.

Re: Terminator Salvation
There is way too little in that commercial to tell what it's gonna be like.
Christian Bale? Cool
I've lost faith in movie makers. ... when it comes to the sequals of loved movies anyway. Completely lost faith.

Oh look, there's still a Terminator!
Arnold's body-double, per se, is playing the T-800, while some other guy is playing a decommissioned Terminator (gay).
