a good example of just how fucking deadly compressed air can be. 800psi? that's fucking insane. it only took 150psi to fire a 1x1x1inch industrial staple (about as thick as your average paper clip) through one side of my finger and out the other, as if it were butter.

cool idea, and lethal as hell, no doubt. but I really hope these things don't hit the streets. not everyone will be limiting their use to watermelons.

yes. for every extra weapon are multiple deaths by that weapon, that could by any means, be avoided. what do you think this thing is for? self-defense? upon self-defense do you neccesarily have to penetrate some-one with a seven inch blade, and then blow the fuck out of them with 800psi's of compressed air? no, you don't. no matter what the situation, and no matter who's attacking you and with what, if you can successfullly attack them with this weapon, than you could surely have sprayed them with pepper spray, and/or punched them in the neck, instead.

don't get me wrong. I'm not anti-weaponry. I own plenty of knives (and blowguns, nightsticks, and air rifles), myself. it's just that if I could, I would wish every made-for-lethality weapon off of this planet. if there are weapons on the opposing side, the defensive side should certainly have them, as well. no doubt. but as I've basically stated, I don't think this weapon is neccesary for simple self-defense. which it is available (public, or not) as.

They should make it automatic so as soon as pressure is placed on the blade it fires a shot of gas. Also the gas could be a mixture of something like nitromethane and pure oxygen. Then have an electric igniter at the exit point for the gas.

that is one mean ass knife. they should make it though, so that after triggering, the canister ejects on it's own, so it's just a matter of cramming another one in real fast. its a good idea, and i can see how that would drop a fucking black bear.

Don't you just LOVE the complete absence of any sort of safety device on that? If you bumped that button accidentally, WHOOSH! All you've got now is a very cold survival knife (and a sub-par one at that. I can't imagine that the hole through the blade helps the blade's strength at all).
