getting caught doing a b&e?
if i've never been arrested, and i'm an adult, what is the most i would get for a b&e if i didn't have a weapon with me? i'm talking residental, and commercial.
it seems like they could only really get you, if you did something stupid after you got away, because if they catch you in the act, it couldn't be grand larceny right?

Re: getting caught doing a b&e?
Most you could get is life. BnE is srs stuff, perhaps even more serious that the internet..
Commercial the max penalty is 10 years or something like that, residential is life.
If you do get caught, get a lawyer. Make sure you stress that you knocked 100 times, banged on the door, etc to prove you knew they weren't home...home invasion=hardc0ar.

Re: getting caught doing a b&e?
Well a buddy of mine is 17 and just recently got arrested for b&e. I'm not sure of his exact charges, but he had a gun, and posession of a controlled substance. I think he took the plea bargain and just got B&E but he's got 2 years at the Arkansas Department of Corrections and has to serve at least 50% of that and then has Drug Court for a year when he gets out.

Re: getting caught doing a b&e?
100 years? why would anybody bother doing homes then? people get away with $100,000 with jewelry stores.
i never got why people get arrested for burglary/controlled substance. i understand the gun.
but azure, your saying if you get caught breaking into a jewelry store, you will probably get less time, than if you broke into someones home?

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying...it has to do with the possibility of people actually being inside the house, the danger is poses to them, the increased risk of violence, etc.

The maximum penalty is life, he most likely won't get it however. I read somewhere that the average sentence for a first time offender in the US is somewhere around 2-3 years.

Re: getting caught doing a b&e?
I got charged when I was 17 and it was a felony. Or thats what I was charged with. Got a lawyer and I got the same sentence as the two girls that were with me got who were both 16. Misdemeanor which got sealed after a year of no records. Also this happened in a federal building with a cctv.

Re: getting caught doing a b&e?
forget the police, a hunting rifle in your face is what you should consider.
Remember that texax man who shot 2 robbers because they were breaking into his neighbors house(unoccupied at the moment). He walked free if i am not mistaken. In some places you re allowed to kill to protect your own property.

Didn't' hear about that story but I knew what I was doing. And believe me if I thought for a second there was any risk in me getting caught I wouldn't have posted it.
The cops didn't even find the jewelry until I showed them were I had it hidden. My lawyer worked out a deal were I returned the jewelry and got no prison time. (DA was trying to get me sent to prison for 2 years)
Also regarding the picture...

Re: getting caught doing a b&e?
I got caught trying to break into a house last Memorial Day. I was charged with first-degree attempted burglary, which is a felony. It was first-degree because someone was home.
The DA set my maximum sentence at three years eight months, but I ended up doing two weeks in juvie, six months on house arrest, and six months on probation. As on June 30th, my record is sealed.
While a year may not sound like a long time, it sure is when you can't do anything...

I don't understand any of you who got caught didn't book it? Did you NOT have a police scanner, hence not knowing the police were on their way?

(I'm 18 so I didn't get any of that Juvie bullshit)
