Better Living Through Chemistry Discussions of any and all sorts of mind-warping chemicals, pills, booze, mind machines, trippy stuff, current street prices, importing pharmaceuticals, smart drugs, nutrients, herbs, and altered states. Please try to keep your conversations "theoretical" in nature, since this is an open conference.

Default L2d

Lucigenol, anybody got some dox on this stuff. It looks pretty tight. It's an oxygenated tryptamine that was supposedly made as a extra stable 4-oh-dmt analogue.

Anyways, it was first synthed by nichols, not shulgin.

Names:Lucigenol, L2D
IUPAC: (R)-3-((1-methylpyrrolidin-2-yl)methyl)-1H-indol-4-ol

5-ht2a receptor agonist (r) isomer is more potent Binding affinity for 5-HT2A receptor is 13 +/- 2 nM (Ki [125I]DOI). It seems that this chemical is not an analoug of LSD as it doesn't have any C or D rings like LSD. It looks like a 5-methoxylated chemical because of it's structure. The alpha methyl is extended and attached to an amine with one more methyl group making it a 5 position... but apparently there is an 4-ho positioned one of lucigenol... this gets more and more confusing. This is not swims area of expertise but this chemical really caught swims ears and eyes.

Dose is reported as so
0.5mg active, 1.0-1.5mg seem to be psychedelic doses.

Duration
heard eight to six ours.

Effects (still not too documented)
OEV/CEV
sedating feeling
Anxiety

This one has been mentioned before here on BL, but info on it is sketchy as hell. It was first synthesized by Nichols, but I have no idea how it got the ergoloid-esque name 'lucigenol.' It has absolutely nothing in common with the ergoloids (except for activity at the 5-HT2A receptor) and is actually a potent psilocin analogue (and the rest of the 4-OH tryptamines), right?

I think that part of the confusion comes from the fact that the original paper describes both the 5-MeO version and the 4-OH version. As usual though, I would expect that the 4-OH version is a better, cleaner and more interesting psychedelic. Someone also claimed that it was sedating (yuck), but I've yet to hear of a definitive human trial, so I'm again not sure where this information came from.

(Swim looked this up all morning please correct and explain to swim if wrong but)

All I've been able to find is Nichol's pubmed article. I met this guy at a kick back yesterday, he was talking about it, and I was just like wtf is this bro talking about (his information was pretty correct tho, except for a few exaggerations). I was really convinced that I wanted to run GC/MS on this substance, and I kept asking myself to do GC/MS. It will cost a lot of money, $100 labor, and I would have to use the new glassware/reagents/transportation and storage at a legitamate research university, but damn, will doing GC/MS on this substance be rewarding. I blindly might decide yes (I haven't even discussed theoretical yield) , and today I decided that GC/MS can't wait, and that my friend is going to start working overtime and not smoking weed anymore so that he can get $( What can I say, he luvs GC/MS,... almost as much as I do).

What the fuck is up with this substance?

True, but there still may be relevant articles.

Much like its close analog - almost, but not quite, the ritalinhenylpiperazine relation - the preliminary reports also suggest a predominantly stimulant character.

Your friend knows how to shop, but I think he picked a shitty tryptamine.

It's not in Tihkal. TihKal was written way before L2D was discovered.

TiHKAL was written in 1997. Apparently it was discovered in 1998.

PiHKAL on the other hand was written in 1991.

David Nichols isn't going to sell any drugs to a two-bit delinquent, or anyone for that matter. I know the guy, personally.

I'd think anyone was cool if they made an attempt to purchase drugs from Dave Nichols.
