Default Wanna be on national TV promoting RESPONSIBLE salvia use?

I just got off the phone with this woman who works for a nationally syndicated tv show and she's working on a segment about salvia. She asked me if I wanted to be on the show and say that there's nothing wrong with salvia, but I told her I didn't want to. If any of you guys want to, email her at tvshow214@yahoo.com or go to her myspace and send her a message http://www.myspace.com/livingadisease

She said she wants to get videos of people smoking salvia from youtube and myspace if she can get their permission, and have their faces blurred out it they want. She wants to show why people want it banned, and why people want it to stay legal. So, if any totseans want to be flown out to Hollywood and promote responsible salvia use, please do it. I would, but fuck that shit, I don't wanna be on national tv promoting a drug that is now illegal in my state, the fucking pigs would be all over me when they found out about that shit. She said she's been posting on myspace and message boards, but has mostly been getting reactions saying that they don't wanna be on 'cause the media will just show it as a negative thing. I'm sure it won't be fair or anything, but it definitely won't be fair if nobody comes on to talk about responsible use.

I don't know what the show is, 'cause she said she wasn't allowed to say.

the email address makes the whole thing sound pretty fake........if the show was on national tv, youd think they could do better than a yahoo email....also, shed be able to tell you the name of the show, if she was the producer.

Following the usual drug trends... What argument is there for salvia to actually be legal? What beneficial use does it actually have that you can actually argue compared to many of those drugs that are already illegal or legal? Its only a matter of time and its inevitable.

Religious in the same was as mescaline which is still generally illegal? That wouldn't really work seeing as the people who use salvia for religious use dont really live in the US. As long as current drug prohibition laws stay the same, and lets face it they really aren't going to get any looser. Salvia like every other drug that people before have enjoyed legally is doomed and when it comes down to it, however much people appear on tv and say how safe it is etc... There really is no firm argument as to why it should be kept legal, enjoy it while you still can because talking will change nothing.

No reason for it to be kept legal?

Apart from the fact that it's a fairly harmless drug of little to no abuse potential? The fact that it's psychoactive shouldn't cause it to be illegal. I've been more harmed by my use of caffeine than by my salvia use.

I don't even like the stuff, I found it to be too short an experience that always ends short of any real revelations even when I broke through. But if even one person finds it enlightening, and it's not turning people into baby-eating mongrels who kill for their next hit of salvia, or causing serious health problems in the vast majority of users, then there's no reason for it to be subject to prohibition.

although it really isnt that harmfull (you could argue lung damage from smoking, blah blah blah) it really isnt super benifitial. but as long as it can be used to acheive a state of alternate consciousness, the USA will find a reason to ban it.

Beep wrong:

The natives to Oaxaca Mexico have used Salvia Divinorum for healing patients to aid headaches, migraines, stomach upsets, constipation, diarrhea, colds, sore throats and other ailments.

Used to overcome Addiction

Salvia Divinorum, a natural kappa-opioid agonist may also be a remedy to reduce drug dependency of morphine, cocaine, alcohol, and nicotine, and that's not all.

In "Salvia divinorum: Clinical and Research Potential" Karl R. Hanes, Ph.D. Dr Hanes explains his successful results using Salvia Divinorum against severe depression in patients. " There is also strong anecdotal evidence to support the usefulness of Salvia Divinorum in resolving pathological grief and as an antidepressant.".

The Chinese have recently discovered that it substantially reduces the chance of a repeat in heart attack victims, since it opens up blood flow or some shit like that.

But the law isn't affecting the natives of Oaxaca Mexico, it's affecting the 15 year old idiots that expect to get stoned off this stuff.

I see no reason why it should be banned from medical research, but I also see no reason why it should be available in high street stores for morons to mess around with.

Those of us who know what we're doing will still be able to get it, surely?

3 years lol.....after a full year from sentencing I can apply for travel permits though, so that's not too bad. They can deny me at any time, and most likely will too lol.

Bad fucking idea all around. This is EXACTLY how LSD and MDMA became illegal. People found a good thing and couldn't keep their fucking mouths shut about it. Tim Leary went on a rant about all the 'positive virtues' of LSD bringing the attention of the media then the government. Boom, LSD was made illegal. While it would have eventually been made illegal anyway, it probably would have stayed under the radar a few years longer if Leary had kept his fucking mouth shut.

Rick "Dumbass" Doblin actually initiated congressional hearings on the medicinal use of MDMA. Until that time it was little know outside the underground/bar scene. You could actually buy it in bars in a little paper cup from the bartender. Well, this wasn't good enough for Doblin and what he did put it on the radar of the government and DEA. Boom, MDMA was made illegal.

What I'm getting at here is all it takes is one idiot going on tv praising the "usefulness" of salvia to alert the wrong people in the right circles to have history repeat itself. Boom, salvia is illegal.

If you find something good, keep your mouth shut. Other people will find it also, just like you did. Chances are they already know about it anyway, but they are KEEPING THEIR MOUTHS SHUT. Mad

Please man, if you had a legitimate migraine, would you even think about taking salvia? No, you would take the legal ergoline alternative that doesn't have "abuse" potential.

Fuck that, I would take the ergot over salvia any day. I have two mg of ET, and every time I see them they mock me. They say, you'll never react us. We just sit in this bottle all day every day. What are you going to do with us? You know you can't use us, why do you keep us around.

If someone's already going on TV to badmouth salvia, why would it be a bad thing to have someone else there to extol the virtues? Being able to get a view of both sides of the coin usually provides a broader, deeper understanding of the issue at hand.

It's counterproductive and simple-minded to blame the LSD/MDMA/Salvia proponents who are just trying to reveal to the public as well as the government that these substances, if used properly, have benefits that far outweigh their drawbacks. Place the blame where it belongs -- on the oppressive agents of the state who pushed through the prohibitory legislation.

when used the propper way, it isnt very "RESPONSIBLE"
people smoke it like they smoke weed, and laugh a little bit, and say oh this is cool. when they dont even know the correct heat of flame to use, the correct way to hit it or anything

when used correctlu this is A VEEERRRRY dangerous daleriant when used by people who dont know, understand, and respect ethnobotanicals.

Sorry for resurfacing this old thread- but did this ever amount to anything? I'm interested to know as to whether any BLTC'ers actually went on this show..
And finally, is the show itself the one talked about in the current salvia threads?
