Old Boy
This really is the best movie I've seen in a long time. If you haven't seen it you owe it to yourself to go out and rent it. Anyone agree?

Re: Old Boy
I saw half that movie the other day. Looks fantastick.
I love the camera work in alot of the scenes, namely the fight scene through the hall way with the one continuous shot.

Disagreed. Watch Rainy Dog or Lady Vengeance instead. Both are superior.

Re: Old Boy
Telling someone to not watch a film because its superior is retarded.
Oldboy is a piece of art. The camera work and acting skills all come together perfectly, and the whole film has a special feel. Also the man-on-roof scene is lulzy.

I just got done watching Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and I would have to say that it wasn't as good as Oldboy was. I know that Mr. Vengeance really has nothing to do with Lady Vengeance other than being part of the Vengeance Trilogy. Is Lady Vengeance really better? Why would you say so?
EDIT: Ok, I just picked up Sympathy for Lady Vengeance and will watch it tomorrow when I'm more awake.

Re: Old Boy
If you want to see an engrossing movie by Park Chan-wook, then you should check out Joint Security Area, probably my favorite Korean movie so far.

"Mr. Vengeance" was by far the weakest of the three. I say that, of course, though I don't really remember it because it was so forgettable.
"Lady Vengeance" takes things up onto a whole other level. It starts off a bit slow, focusing on black comedy, but then switches off to an insanely awesome scenario that would be solely a hypothetical/philosophical one for normal people. Fortunately, the director's got a twisted imagination. It goes on a bit longer than it has to, but it was a really great movie.
That philosophy was probably what made the movie more than anything else, but the rest was decent as well.

The fight scene in Oldboy was fantastic, but I don't recall a whole lot of other "artistry". Some great shock value, sure.

Re: Old Boy
Ok, so I just finished Sympathy for Lady Vengeance and I have to say that Oldboy was much better in my opinion. Lady Vengeance was a much more artistically mature movie, but I find Oldboy to be more entertaining. Both were great though and it's too bad that Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance wasn't as good as these other two.
