Best Soundtrack To A Game/Movie/Anime/Series?
Just been accquiring the Final Fantasy 8 soundtrack and it's bringing back some good memories.
It's also made me realise how much music actually contributes to a game/film or whatever. When it's playing in the background, I get the feeling that many people don't pay attention or realise it there, but it's presence can actually mean the difference between mediocrity and an epic success. It's a shame more people don't really appreciate the music behind the visuals.
But yeah, what soundtracks stand out for you?

Re: Best Soundtrack To A Game/Movie/Anime/Series?
Game: Killzone's orchestrated pieces sounded beautiful.
Movie: Animal House or Saturday Night Fever.
Anime: Death Note, like Killzone, had a nice orchestra.

28 Days Later/28 Weeks Later both had a brilliant score.
The music was the only thing I liked from Akira.

I've gotta agree with this.
And I hate to say it, but I love the Moulin Rouge soundtrack.
House of 1000 Corpses has some of Zombies best.
The Devils Rejects has some great classic tunes as well. Great use of Free Bird at the end.
If anyone says the Juno soundtrack I'm going to punch them in the face.

If I were to choose the best game soundtracks, I'd go with Quake 2, Descent 2, and Unreal.

Re: Best Soundtrack To A Game/Movie/Anime/Series?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brütal_Legend
</thread>
"The soundtrack is set to include brand new music by Zakk Wylde, Tim Skold, Wolfmother, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, and Ronnie James Dio, with extended guitar solos by Judas Priest guitarists K. K. Downing and Glenn Tipton. Tim Schafers' long term collaborator Peter McConnell is also involved in the soundtrack.
The song "The Mob Rules" by Black Sabbath was used in the first trailer for the game and on Brütal Legend's website, the songs "The Hellion" and "Screaming for Vengeance" by Judas Priest are used."

It may be the most emasculating thing I've ever said on here, but on a large part, I agree. Having a sister that played the soundtrack ceaselessly, the music grew on me. And it hurts my soul to say that....
FFVII was pretty damn good, too. I had it on my Zune for a while, but lost it. Damnit.
I seem to recall Gundam Wing's scores were pretty good.
Queen of the Damned had a good soundrack to listen to independent of the movie.
raab, that game sounds fucking sweet and really weird.

Re: Best Soundtrack To A Game/Movie/Anime/Series?
Movies: There Will Be Blood, Clockwork Orange, Eternal Sunshine, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Fountain, Jackie Brown, Life Aquatic, The Matrix, Lord of the Rings, Oldboy, Pan's Labyrinth, Paprika, Princess Mononoke, Requiem for a Dream, Sin City, Star Wars, Trainspotting, and everything by Ennio Morricone.
Video Games: American McGee's Alice, Castlevania: SOTN, fucking Chrono Trigger, most Final Fantasies, Hitman 2, the GTA series, Legend of Zelda series, the Sonic series, Shadow of the Colossus (holy shit what a fucking good game and soundtrack), and, uh... all the Katamaris.
I don't watch much TV, but Star Trek has a pretty classic soundtrack, as does the Twilight Zone.
