Default Starting a snow shoveling business

I am thinking of doing this this winter. I would get people to sign a contract and I would charge 150$ per house a month. As an incentive for people to hire me to shovel their driveways I would offer them that they do not have to pay me until the end of the first month to ensure I do a good job. I think I would only be able to handle about 10 houses. Now that would be $1500 a month. I estimate it would take me and some buddies 20min a driveway including travel time. We would begin with just shovels but me and my buddies are big guys and in good shape, possibly move up to snow blowers, but im thinking that snowblowing could even be slower. I am 19 and in college and well known around my neighbourhood so getting contracts shouldnt be an issue.

should I register my business so I can have write offs or should I just go under the table? I would prefer to have people make out checks to my business just because they would feel better doing it that way I bet.

You guys are all talking like little faggots YOU need to go back to "SG".

This can be a good idea to put the 100 thousand plowing businesses to shame. It's an expense free business, you won't have to pay for gas to put in a big truck therefore maybe people will be interested in doing business with you for cheaper price than the plows do it.

Not to sure whats with the hate...

Anyways, im thinking il charge just as much as the snow plows, I know alot of people that have had issues with the backdrag the plow method because it scratches the driveway and rips up the edges of the lawn. That will be another reason for people to hire me.

I guess im just going to begin by handing out flyers to houses with average sized driveways. I plan on pretty much writing a cover letter convincing them to go with me instead of some bigshot company.

But the main reason I began this thread: Should I register my business? I looked into it and it costs about 150$, its relatively cheap but is there any point in doing it, because people wouldn't know if I was registered or not... Although I am intrested in the writeoffs i could have even though I don't know much about it.

You will never get rich working for someone, you have to have people working for you...
