Default Driving Drunk

A quick first note, don't waste your breath telling me that I'm and idiot, evil, ect. I'm just going to ignore your posts.

But who else out there drives drunk.
I do it about 5-6 times a month for an average of about 10 miles each time. I normally take back roads to avoid the popo, but have taken several highways as well. On a scale of 1 being a buz to 10 being puking everywhere I'm usually a 6 or 7. I've never come even close to having an accident and I'm extremely concentrated even though it's 2 or 3am and I fall asleep as soon is I get home.
Ive passed cop cars several times that park on the side of the road looking out for drunks and have they never looked twice. Last week when I drove home it was like 2 and there was a wicked thunderstorm with really bad fog so I had my heat on full so I could see through my windshield. I only had like 5 feet of visibility so it was pretty ridiculous. Think about that got me curious to see what other totseans do this.

My drinking normally consists of 1-2 beers and somewhere around 10 shots (80 proof) over 5 or so hours.

This isn't a troll thread b4 anyone suggests such, and although I'm a new arrival I've been reading these forums for over 7 years. I used to have an account but I forgot the name/pass and for some reason netscape (aol) has emails from a lot of sites completely blocked.

Well if I do it I always drive short distances like 2 or 3 miles at the most. And I'm not really fucking drunk but I probably will have had about 6 drinks and I'm kind of a lightweight so that has an effect. I concentrate and avoid main roads, I wouldn't drive on the highway drunk. Driving drunk is stupid but how the hell else are you supposed to get home?

lets see, got my first car at 17. a month later i crashed into a tree in the judge of the county's front yard, got towed out. police asked for my ID, i drove off, lost them somehow and then somehow lost my car in a neighboring county.. didnt find it for 3-4 days.

dont remember any of that, was told by various people what happened.

next, hit a curb, flattened my tire, drove for 2 miles on my rim and fucked my entire axle up.

a few months later, i dont even know what i hit or how, but i drove for a few miles until my bumper fell off. that was about $900 to fix.

next i crashed into a parked car, stole a witnesses cell phone. ran from the police into a shed. hid for 2 hours until their k9 found me.

last incident, drove home. parked somewhere, dont remember why. woke up to police knocking on my window, i puked all over them and swung on them. dont remember any of that, was told by the police.

alcohol makes me black out and make poor poor deicions and have no motor skills or common sense. that was all over the course of 10-12 months. needless to say i only drink at home now.

some people have better luck with this, but youll all have your day where you fuck up and it just isnt worth it in the end, there are a million other alternatives. driving drunk is selfish and wreckless

The law of averages deals with random events, so maybe a deer will hit me or something, but after over a year of this I'm pretty confident in my driving.

While we're on the topic of driving high, I often get high before I drive drunk. Most people I know, myself included, drive the better if not the same high.

I drive better drunk then I do sober. Mainly because its the only time I actually do the speed limit and observe all the traffic signs.

Also I have a question I was gonna post a thread about but saw this thread first so I will throw it in here.

I weight 130lbs, and the BAC chart says I will blow a .07 with 2 drinks in one hour. Will that .07 change if my tolerance is higher? I'm guessing that it doesn't, but I don't want to accept the bullshit that I can't get a nice light buzz off 4-5 beers and drive home legally.

Yeah I make sure to obey all laws/signs as well.
I'm 150 btw but have a really high tolerance. And BAC tests/charts are really inaccurate when relating to reality. The calculation used to determine BAC are generalized so they are untrue in a lot of instances.

I was bored on a 2 hour long drive that was all highway, so when I hit a 5 min patch of random heavy rain I put it in cruise control doing about 90 (keeping with traffic not speeding) and pulled out my bubbler took about 5 hits and the rest of the drive was wasn't so bad.

Some people are uncomfortable driving high, but it's all about being able to manage yourself and trying to enjoy the ride while still being safe. It can definitely be really satisfying if done right.

I've driven drunk a good amount. I can honestly say I drive just as good as normally, because I drive with other people in the car who are sober. Then again I don't really drive shitfaced. Although on friday I drove while drunk and high as shit, and I thought I was driving horribly, but my friends told me I was driving fine. Still not a good idea though.

I think I drive better drunk than sober. All my friends would always tell me they never drive with drunk drivers, except me. I was always the DDD (Designated Drunk Driver). But as the dude in the first reply said, law of averages. Some day you're going to be out there driving drunk, and get pulled over for something unrelated that could have happened even if you were sober. Then you're fucked.

In my case, I beat the fuck out of some douche bag at a party, and he called the cops and told them to watch for my car to leave the house. I got pulled over a block away from the party. I've got court tomorrow morning actually. If all goes well I should get my license back next month. Sure has sucked not having my car all summer though.

The furthest I've ever driven drunk was 50 miles to my friends house in the city. Random drunken decision, I barely even remember doing it. I got lost in the ghetto and my friend had to hop on google maps and direct me. Then when I got there I fell down his stairs and gashed my head open :(

some people for some reason can't drive stoned. rarer than drunk driving. either way, regardless of the drug, you can be too fucked up to drive. rolling face, noddin out, trippin hard...

knowing that point is alot harder for some than others...

I drive drunk/stoned fairly often, sometimes I feel fine driving other times I feel like I really shouldn't be driving and am putting myself and others at risk. Either way, driving fucked ups fun even if it is ridiculously irresponsible.

The only thing thats happened to me so far was crashing into my friends mailbox in his car, his parents were out of town though so we didn't have to deal with that immediately (I ended up paying about $100 to replace one of the tail lights).

I have done it though, it's not enjoyable at all. The times I have I'm too paranoid about something happening and it completely ruins whatever good feeling I had going.

I would say I am a lot less likely to take stupid risks and a lot more focused when I drive after toking. I don't make a habit of it because it sure isn't fun you get really paranoid about crashing.

I think someone really really wasted might simply not turn a corner and drive off the road or something though.

I used to drive 300km a day (at night, like 9pm-5am) on like 6-8mg xanax (too much for me) and a few joints. One time a cop pulled me over after I'd taken like 90mg valium, didn't even realize (what do they get paid for?) and gave me a ticket. Fifteen minutes later I fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into these pole barrier thingies that bend over.

Other than that, never driven while I was drunk. Only benzos because I was prescribed them, and pot because it makes you so paranoid you're 20km under the speed limit, very attentive, and certain every taxi is a cop care. How ever reaction time is slowed.

Worst I ever did, and I still feel guilty about it: I went to a gathering, people said I could get wasted and stay the night. Every one I came with was cool with that since I drove. So I take a hit of strong acid, like 3 ambien, 5mg xanax and 2 hits froma gravity bong. Then this dick head I was with decided he "had to pick up his sister" and I "Needed to drive him home NOW" (he made it up). So I drove home and...well, I was ALL over the road, my passengers had to grab the wheel a couple times.

Any way, I haven't driven under the influence of a single drug in about 12 months. Not even 12 hours after doing said drugs. Very careful.

I agree with you for the most part but not about driving after smoking. I dislike doing it but I will do it if I have to. I wont say i'm a better driver while stoned but I honestly am a lot more focused on my driving. I do not think you should drive on almost all other drugs though. I refuse to drive off any drugs and any more than 3 drinks.

It was getting to the point where i would be puking and driving at the same time. thankfully i never got into an accident or got pulled over. Then starting about a year and a half ago all my friends started getting DUI's. 7 of my close friends ended up getting DUI's from then up until the present. Now i try to avoid driving drunk like the plague. I only do it under dire circumstances now.

I have some friends that get stoned as holy fuckery and drive... it doesn't seem to impair their driving much, but i still wouldn't get in the car with them after a heavy night. Drink driving seems worse to me. I don't drive but might start soon, and I don't plan on driving under the influence of anything.

I'm not exactly proud of it, but I do occasionally drink-drive. Driving high is easy as fuck though - in fact, I often find I obey the law a lot more when high for fear of getting pulled, winding down my window, and blurting out "what seems to be the officer, problem?"...

Anyway, I know my limits, and won't drive over a certain limit. Three beers is usually that limit, since having a fourth pint puts me into a couldn't-care-less-about-that-old-lady-crossing-the-street state of mind. I'm not drunkoff of four beers, mind, but I dislike driving anywhere when I get to that limit.

When I do drink drive, however, it'll always be somewhere I know like the back of my hand.

I'm a good driver (never had an accident [touch wood], passed first time, and drive every day), however, drink driving is still fucking dumb, and I always try to avoid it as best as possible. Still, sometimes it's almost requisite considering I live in the middle of nowhere.

I don't advise it, though. Just imagine killing someone totally innocent, and then living with that over your head for the rest of your life... Or imagine smashing yourself up so bad that your parents can't even identify your body...

I find that driving on PCP makes me much more courteous to my fellow motorists and pedestrians.

Wait until you try it on ecstasy and you're gonna want to pull over each time you see someone to feel them up.

Riding a motorcycle everyday, I hate the fact that so many people drive drunk at night in addition to women being allowed to pilot minivans and SUVs with cell phones to their ears.

I drink probably 4-5 times a week, and I've driven drunk once in my life. I took my truck from my a house in my own neighborhood to my own. Probably 1/8th mile. I honestly could have pushed it, yet I was still paranoid as a motherfucker.

I'm never driving drunk again

Some scary times have been 35 mile trips, one to Denton and one to Lancaster

Knowing that means nothing to you, I will continue by saying i was in no position to be behind the wheel in either instance, and I'm suprised I didn't wrap my car around a telephone pole while bumping loud rap in the winter.

Just drove home immediately after 4 shots and no one died.

I know I sound like I'm bragging and trying to look like a bad ass, but my point is that (most) people can drive acceptably when they are moderately drunk. Society or more specifically MADD have convinced everyone that there should be no tolerance for driving under even a mild influence. Now I'm not saying we should legalize drunk driving by any measure because although people can drive slightly drunk most can't tell when they are too drunk. Everyone seems to have an inherent lack of trust in other drivers regardless of intoxication so we automatically assume the worst when someone is intoxicated. I guess what I'm trying to say is that there are people out there that can drive drunk responsibly, although I find it funny that the thought of what we do scares the shit out of some of you. I hope you get drunk and have to drive somewhere for an important reason, but are to pussy to so you're fucked.

I used to drive trashed ALL THE FUCKING TIME! Got arrested first time for it with three beers(under age). Most recent got a DUI for blowing a .36, only that time for forgetting my turn signal on a typically unused road. Watch your shit. It'll catch up.

Firstly the problem is that some people can and some people can't...its that simple. Coupled with the fact that after a certain amount NO ONE can. Just like after so much standing still and talking and holding your head still becomes difficult!

If your lucky and can drive slightly drunk....what will happen is ONE time, ONE DAY...you'll be JUST pass the thresh-hold of your ability to drive drunk and then think "well ive done it so many times before...ill just be EXTRA careful this time" and then you will crash and fuck up, and possibly wreck your life...

...is it worth that/

I really do not have a problem driving drunk. It's loads funner, and it's ALWAYS after 1am, and I rarely get trashed. so it's also easier since there's very little traffic. I can do it just fine, I've actually driven with my passengers without even realizing I was drunk.

Last weekend I was at a party 100 miles away from my home, and I was about to crash there, when I realized I wanted my own glorious bed, as opposed to a sleeping bag on the floor. I proceeded to drive all the way home, arriving around 6am. Best. Sleep. Ever.

It all depends on people's driving skill, just like how lucky people get the hang of driving in a snap. Everyone's an individual, it's just the dumb chaps who aren't the best drivers to begin with who ruin it for everyone.

Agreed.

I do drive drunk. It's not something I'm proud of, but like someone else said, how the hell else are you supposed to get home? I'm not going to pay $20 for a cab every fuckin' time, and screw sleeping on the floor in some trashed place.

As long as I'm not shitfaced drunk I can drive. Plus if it's a route I've driven dozens of times before and on back roads I'm fine. Just gotta slow down for them deer ;) Can't be fucking up my ride.

Keep your wheels on the double yellow and you're straight.

Was he worth it? You should have told him to fuck off and call a cab. Or are you one of those people that cannot be assertive?

If drunk driving is so wrong, why does holding a beer in one hand while driving with the other feel so right?

after partying at a bar 50 miles from where i live until we got kicked out by the cops, I drove about 110MPH at 3:30AM on sunday(?). I was trashed. Then my buddy threw his condiments from the Jack off in the crack mozzerella sticks out the window and it exploded on my back window. Check it out.

I did it a bit when I was younger. I can't believe how idiotic I was. I never got HAMMERED and drove, but I certainly have driven with 8+ drinks in me. DUMB.

It's not worth the risk. Just leave your keys at home, or if you're drinking at home, give them to someone. My buddy just crashed his brand new Nissan while hammered, he's extremely lucky he didn't get breathalized (or injured, for that matter...). He has to go through lawyers and all sorts of legal shit.

Do you think it's worth all the horrible things that could potentially go wrong?

I don't want to preach, I mean, fuck, I've driven on acid (to be fair, I was rapidly approaching baseline and it was a two minute drive...)... yeah, just don't do it.

Driving stoned is okay as long as you're not ripped, IMO. A couple hits from my bubbler doesn't impair my driving anymore than getting less than 7 hours of sleep does.
