Re: who has recently quit a drug/habit?
Three years ago I quit smoking heroin [a 15 year habit] and meth [a 20 year habit]. And I quit by myself with almost no withdrawal - I detoxed myself using heroin instead of methadone.

Lulz you got caught in a public park smoking how dumb is that? That sucks though man I've been caught for weed (not in a public park). And guess what I did. I didn't quit smoking until I actually got caught by the cops and now I'm on probation so it very much limits the opportunities I have to smoke. She'll get over it though, just quit for now cause you have court, once that all blows over you'll be fine to toke again. Jesus christ why the hell do people quit so mad about fucking weed though it fucking pisses me off.

Re: who has recently quit a drug/habit?
While weed is excellent and all it is nice to go on extended breaks every once in a while. For one, it's a pretty expensive habit to have (keep in mind not everyone deals to support the habit, before any of you chime in with that) and frequent use (daily) can put you in a bit of a brain fog. I smoked a lot every day for nearly 2 years and when I took a 6 month break there was a noticeable difference in consciousness.
Of course, I'm back from my break now and smokin' strong again :)
But, in October of last fall I quit a 2 1/2 year heroin/opiate habit. I've had a couple relapses since then, but nothing extended. Other than 3 mess ups I've been clean since then. It put my life on hold and destroyed 30 months that I'll never get back.

Re: who has recently quit a drug/habit?
i used to smoke cigarettes regularly, id go through a pack every few days or so. i would try to cold turkey but eventually end up saying fuck it and buy a pack, or bum/buy a cig from someone.
eventually i just quit buying packs, smoked a lot more weed, and would buy cigs from people by the smoke shacks at my college before class sometimes. it was a good way to meet girls too, buy a cig off them and start up conversation, met a few really cool chicks that way.
i pretty much just drastically increased my weed smoking, and smoke cigs every once in a while when im in the mood mainly when drunk, tripping, nodding, rolling etc. usually they just taste and smell absolutely disgusting now, and i have no desire to smoke them. also, usually when i smoke weed and smoke a cig afterwards it just tastes like shit, and id much rather just hit a bowl instead.
but when i do smoke cigs i try to smoke weed with them, usually afterwards, to dilate my bronchial tubes and help get as much of that nasty shit out of my lungs as possible.

Re: who has recently quit a drug/habit?
I quit smoking cigarettes a little while ago...and I haven't had any drugs or alcohol in over a year. I had a mad coke/speed problem, but I quit on my own...no rehab. It was rough.

Re: who has recently quit a drug/habit?
I quit smoking weed about four months ago and feel great. My wallet is a little fatter, I'm eating a little less junk food at 2 a.m. and once I cut out my daily soda intake and start exercising more, I think I'll be feeling great. Still have mad love for the occasional night of brews out with the boys and magic caps, though.

Re: who has recently quit a drug/habit?
I've smoked weed twice in the past six months. I've been looking for a decent job lately that doesn't require knowledge of a fryer, plus my school is starting some bullshit drugtesting program next year. Every month ten or so kids "randomly" get picked... all extra-cirriculars and "priveleged activities" have to abide (aka driving a fucking car to school, cocksuckers). They had to fucking do it for my senior year, too. High school blows.

Why did you say habit and not addiction? I asked a similar question to this in humanities.
You quit 3 years ago and had been doing meth for 20 years so you started in 1985? Jesus H. Christ. Did you have a mullet back then? :p
I go for long periods between uses and I've quit drinking alcohol after becoming pretty much a slave to it since it was fucking around with some medication I've been put on (not connected to quitting it).

Re: who has recently quit a drug/habit?
Took a tollerance break from weed a few months back and just havent really been bothed to start smoking again. Going from daily smoking to nothing was pretty harsh but nothing compared to what I thought it would be or what other people go through with other drugs.
I feel a lot better for it too although il probably end up smoking again once the summer holidays are over.

What do you mean you detoxed yourself with heroin? You did less and less each time until you didn't do any at all or what?

Re: who has recently quit a drug/habit?
I quit coke cold turkey after nearly a year of heavy use. I quit benzos after being barred up constantly for about 5 or 6 months. I quit prescription amphetamines after taking 50-150mg daily for almost a year and a half. I never had much of an opiate habit, but I quit that too. I quit smoking weed for the first time in about 5 years while I was on probation for four months. I quit DXM after 3 months of using it every day. I was fifteen, what are you going to do?
I smoke weed again and have never needed to even think about stopping psychedelics.

gimme a month and hopefully ill be completely clean. unfortunately like ive heard from many people, once its a part of your life it will ALWAYS be a part of your life. i am hoping i will be able to buy a half g of raw or so every couple of weeks and get down i just gotta hide it from myself between doses.
i started off doin it on fridays and saturdays for about a month.. then i threw in sunday. then one day on a monday i decided to get down at work and realized it made the day way better. then came tuesdays, then everything went down hill from there. ill be back to being a good boy soon enough, one day at a time ya dig

Re: who has recently quit a drug/habit?
I dunno if ya would say I quit ....although its been 6 weeks since I have felt the nice feeling of a needle puncture my arm and the warm feeling of heroin or oxy flow through my veins....
ahhh....
yep i just said that and I have no urge anymore to even get high...I must be sick?? nope not even dope sick anymore...
6 weeks and i know if I had it i would still do it...although a 20 of H or a 40 of OC wouldnt be worth the sick I would feel...
I actually have energy to clean and try to domesticate myself into a lil housewife..haha...
life isnt so bad sober...and im not even gaining weight from soberiety either...maybe cause when your sober you have more sex!;)
all this from a pretty much 5 year love of opiates mostly fentanyl...Heroin was just a 08 love...but opiates in gen have been 5 years and the needle has been 3 years....was my last 2 years of high school i was high on drugs...;)

yep exactly...i was talkin to a person on youtube who was asking me for advice and I told her the same thing...the shit stays with you forever...the brain will always have the association of the addiction there...btw the show intervention is alsome...i dunno why that just came into my head...but yea...
no matter what...your brain will forever be changed by your "habit/addiction" whether you have quit or not your brain will still crave and its what you do with that ...that makes the difference

Re: who has recently quit a drug/habit?
i quit a 4 year iv dope n coke habit...i started when i was 16, kinda young, so it was hard on me. i went to a very prestigues hs in ny and was a very good student/kid before and because of my habit i didnt graduate and watched all my friends goto ivy leagues and had to goto nightschool and finally got into some average colleges and then got kicked out not 2 months in also beacuse of me doing drugs (fuck my roomates fucking snitches). because if my habit i went to detoxes/rehabs/mental wards and got associated with some very shaddy people. i stole and hustled as well. Ofcourse i had some awful wild times as well and I dont think id be the person I am today without the experienced i had, and the streets made me smarter and tougher, being a spoiled azn girl before, and I've learned mad empathy for the wrectched.
after a near suicidal binge..around 3 gs of white and 100 bags of dope in the span of 4 days without much eating and sleeping ive finally reached my limit and finally decided to go home and be a good kid and got on a methadone program..and ive been clean ever since..minus some weed usage.
man its just as tough being clean as it was being wasted
