Default Hydrogen oxygen mixture

Not sure if this is the right forum, so sorry if its not. feel free to move it.

I need 2 parts hydrogen and 1 part oxygen. Where do I get it? I know I can "make" it. But is there a company out there that just sells it so I can save time and effort and know its done right?

To put your mind at ease, this is NOT for any type of destructive device. I know it can be dangerous, and I have a place to safely work with it. I am 21, currently in university(summer break), and need it for an experiment that hit me earlier today.

So is there a place I can just buy a small tank of it? 2 parts hydrogen and 1 part oxygen. I know I can extract it with the whole electric thing whatever its called. But I dont know if that will give me what I need (2 parts hydrogen and 1 part oxygen)

So yeah, are the companies that sell this type of thing?

what exactly is this experiment? making water? you are gonna blow your face off, thats a violent reaction why don't you go learn the heat of formation mmmkay? btw...all you need can be had with electrolysis and reduction reactions... thats al you get so smoke more pot mr college student... *mumbles to self* what are they teaching in college I'm fucking glad i'm not wasting my money on shitty institutions

................I just briefly perused your previous posts and can only conclude you are up to no good as a great majority are in BI and in MMM and mostly revolve around accumulation of wealth quickly...

first, new arrivals piss me off.

second. I dont smoke pot.

third. I am not up to no good.

yeah the majority of my posts are in BI and MMM, so what? Thats supposed to reflect on me as a person?

My friends and I have built several crude engines using gunpowder, and other combustible materials.(obviously not to put in cars, but to show it can be done) What we want to do is make a (crude)engine run on the explosion from this. Seeing as how its summer break, we cant get anything from the school labs or anything, which we have previously done provided we write up a whole paper and shit like that. Which is why We need to find this on our own.

And Im sure its obvious im not a science major..

anyway either provide insightful comments or constructive criticism, or GTFO.

so again, are there any places that sell this stuff?

Like that asshole was attempting to get across, you need to be careful. Hydrogen combusting will produce heat and gas, which can hurt/kill you.

Anyway, there are a few ways. The easiest would be to use a DC Voltage with an anode and a cathode in a container with water and an electrolyte. It's kind of hard to explain, and you should really read some more before attempting this. I'm sure you can also buy hydrogen gas somewhere, but I don't know where. Google?

I seriously doubt any company would sell a 2/1 hydrogen oxygen mix, if that's what you are talking about.

Both oxygen and hydrogen gas are "unrestricted" in most places, but this doesn't tell us anything about your situation unless we'd know where you are from.

For what it's worth: oxygen is used for a lot of cutting torches

My $.02

Oxygen can be found at any welding supply place in lots of different sized cylinders...I would know, I've done a good bit of welding.

You might also be able to find hydrogen at welding supply places, I think it's sometimes used as a fuel in cutting or welding... and if you're planning to make water with it, as it seems judging by the 2 h to 1 o ratio, then that's the kind of heat you'll have to be dealing with to do so.

Why not just turn on the tap? It's much simpler.

Yeah I never thought about the welding places. Iv done oxy-acetylene welding before. Not sure why i dint think of it. But those are huge tanks. We need a small amount. Like very small. Almost small enough to just do it ourselves. Just small enough to see the power and size of the explosion and measure it in a controlled environment.

I just dont want to do it ourselves. Yeah Im sure it easy and all. But we are all engineering and mechanical majors. Sure we seen experiments with electrolysis back in like 7th grade, but when we know its dangerous, we would rather have it done right.

We are in Massachusetts. So I doubt its as easy as just walking into a walmart and buying some explosives. Which is why we always had the school lab get us the stuff we needed.

For mechanical engineering majors who are supposedly 21-ish your stupidity astounds me... Infact I can't even discern if your trying to troll us or not...

You obviously wouldn't want both gases in the same container.

Go re-learn chemistry.

No not a troll. No im not engineering. Im auto tech, Im one of the car guys. The others are all either engineering, auto, auto engineering, and other stuff like that. There are people working on their bachelors, as well as working on their associates. This isnt a one man team. Theres usually about 8-10 of us.

We got one of the labs TA's to help us out with this so we dont fuck up or anything.

Dude seriously I had enough of you all you do is insult and offer nothing. Its people like you that make totse hate new arrivals. Go get a life or something.

Im auto. My classes consisted of sitting in a class and arguing what the best way to fix something is for an hour or so,and the rest of the school day in shop. The few science related courses I had were the basic mandatory shit.

I should have known better than to ask help from anyone on totse.

actually we told you everything you need to know...well do more research on...

also, in MY local hardware store they sell little orange bottles of O2 about 3 liters for 5$, they sell flavored O2 in the gas station for 10$ a liter (wtf is up with that its so easy to make!) and at the local gas supply they sell anything from "samples" to 3000lb tanks

also...hydrogen is made by electrolysis of a DILUTE solution of halite in dihydrogen monoxide at the anode.

theres spoon feeding, does it sound eerily similar to what everyone else was saying?

also ...more fucking spoon feeding this time from wiki

Laboratory

In the laboratory (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laboratory), H2 is usually prepared by the reaction of acids on metals such as zinc (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zinc).
Zn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zinc) + 2 H+ → Zn2+ + H2 Aluminium (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aluminium) produces H2 upon treatment with acids but also with base:
2 Al + 6 H2O → 2 Al(OH)3 + 3 H2 The electrolysis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrolysis) of water is a simple method of producing hydrogen. A low voltage current is run through the water, and gaseous oxygen forms at the anode (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anode) while gaseous hydrogen forms at the cathode (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathode). Typically the cathode is made from platinum or another inert metal when producing hydrogen for storage. If, however, the gas is to be burnt on site, oxygen is desirable to assist the combustion, and so both electrodes would be made from inert metals. (Iron, for instance, would oxidize, and thus decrease the amount of oxygen given off.) The theoretical maximum efficiency (electricity used vs. energetic value of hydrogen produced) is between 80–94%.[64] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrogen#cite_note-63)
2H2O(aq) → 2H2(g) + O2(g) In 2007, it was discovered that an alloy of aluminium and gallium (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallium) in pellet form added to water could be used to generate hydrogen. The process also creates alumina (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alumina), but the expensive gallium, which prevents the formation of an oxide skin on the pellets, can be re-used. This has important potential implications for a hydrogen economy, since hydrogen can be produced on-site and does not need to be transported.[65] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrogen#cite_note-64)

Where I come from engineering is NOT a science major, unless it's biomedical engineering. You don't go to college, so shut the fuck up.

We are in Massachusetts.

Where in MA are you? What college do you go to?

I wanna say

Evian, volvic, any other company that bottles "2parts hydrogen 1 part oxygen"
urm... Water?

If you want it in gas form, you could always
use a cathode and anode to separate the elements with an electrical charge, but storing it at any pressure would be an issue..

Just the way he phrases it makes me believe he's not being completely honest. He sounds like a retard.

"I need 2 parts Hydrogen and 1 part oxygen, where do i get it?"

Hmm lets see, you could buy water for one.

If you wanted H2 and O2 i suggest you say what quantities, and actually say what form. Gas? water?

I'm assuming you want them separated.

Fucking kids these days, i bet he's 15 and never seen the inside of a chemistry class.
