Head's up: I will be reorganizing categories a bit to make a tighter connection between the article pages and the BBS.
If your favorite forum seems to have disappeared, look around, it's still here, just moved.

Jeff, any chance of moving SG back down? Too many idiots are flooding the place and ruining the vibe.
Also - any chance of a 'Life' category? Society is getting a bit overcrowded. Such a category could include 'money money money', the school forum, the law forum and travellers travails: stuff which might actually be relevant and useful to our every day lives, as opposed to the society forums where we just discuss shit we'll never really be able to control.
Just a thought...
edit: Is this organisation paving the way for a greater plan? :D A wiki-esque textfile section?

Well, I personally don't think that SG should be in the About section as it really is all an Ego trip in there. But, though, perhaps make a Community category (oh no, nesting!) for things such as SG, HB, B&M? They seem to be the three big forums that are about the community... That way About can be about the forum itself and not about the community.
Hopefully that makes sense, Jeff, and it's good to see you active (for the time being, of course). Check's in the mail! :D

Is there any way that you can make a "spam" forum so that any trash that comes from sg can go to said forum instead of hb? I understand that hb was originally intended to be the "trash can" as some moderators have so eloquently put it, but it has become it's own community with regular posters who don't appreciate the flood of retardation thrown at us every time some kiddiot decides to make a thread in sg.

Might be wrong but if it was left as Vices according to the new alphabetical arrangement would be at the very bottom and as Vices is by far the most visited section and the heart of totse (in my opinion) that might have inspired the change. Am I right? ;)
What I do find strange though, is that when I google search Vices, this is the suggested image result. :)

I think the previous order was a lot better.
At the very least change "Vices" back to "Vices". Seriously. I understand that "Vices" makes more sense in the context, but I'd rather be full of vices than of carnalities.
I mean, "Vagina" is the proper word to use when referring to the female genitals, but you wouldn't be using it while making love now, would you?
I appreciate what you've done, but I'd rather you cancelled the changes.

Also, I like the rearrangement and I think it is a good idea to tie more things in with the text files seeing as that is what this site is about. You ever thing of adding a comment feature to articles? I think that would be a really good idea, but hard to moderate. Maybe have mods that are alerted when new comments are added to articles/floods/etc.
I'd also like to talk to you some day when you aren't off working the streets to feed your second family or programming for the german intelligence about IRC.

Yeah zok said its been recommended a lot so I am pretty happy that its something being considered. If you guys need funding or coders I am sure I know quite a few that would be willing to help.

The reorganization is based on what the most dangerous knowledge is on TOTSE. In other words, the first few boards you see contain people that often speak gibberish. The next few are arm-chair thinking types. But as you progress, you get to see the darker side of the BBS. So, Jeff decided to smear the place with crisco.

Jeff, is there any chance we can get a work-related forum? I know we've got MMM, TWS, OSNSFS, etc., but how about a forum where we can talk about our jobs/discuss ways to fuck off and still get paid/how best to lay our hot managers, etc.?

Reorganization on Totse has always been a fun thing to witness, in my opinion. It's been awesome to see the site develop slowly over the past 20 years. We started out with basically just a simple telnet session to ftp with bright, multi-colored splash-screens, which evolved into the Win 3.1 look with lots of bordered squares with text in them, right over to a more smooth appearance with automated functions and more robust links/menus, and now we have a place that's just busting with bells, whistles, and all kinds of easter eggs. Who knows what we could have tomorrow!
A little reminisce, if I may. These were the original login screens from The Temple of the Screaming Electron... very cool ANSI graphics with multi-colored presentations. I would guess that loading these for a look wouldn't be all that easy in this day and age, but if someone had the time... Enjoy

Found a fairly good 16-bit ANSI Viewer to view the splash screens. Need to put font at about 16 for every load, and when opening select "All Files" from the drop-down.

Thanks for these, man.My pleasure Agent 008. Always a kick to look back on our heritage, eh? What's cool is if you load them in the ANSI Viewer, some will have some actual animation before they go still. This was exactly the way they loaded back then, with some oscillating colors and moving text.
