My insurance ran out for my Suboxone. After turning in my script, I was told I had to pay something like $770.88, as opposed to the normal $20 for my bottle of 90, 8mg Suboxone.

I have the money, but it's not exactly something I can spend all on Suboxone at the moment. I need it for rent, food, gas etc, etc.

So, I mailed in the paperwork to get back on my insurance plan. Everything should be cleared and ready to go in about 2 weeks. Being dopesick for 2 weeks isn't exactly anything I'd be thrilled about doing, but I'm certainly not flipping out about it. Only thing is, I live in the city of Pittsburgh and purchasing a few bags is MUCH easier than sitting around waiting for that long. Whatever, though - I've decided I'm not going to - and Christ, I really, really, really don't wanna start using heroin again. I'm not in any position to.

So, with about 50 bucks, I've procured the following :

Plenty of Immodium
Lots and lotsa weed
vitamins
Several cans of soup

At the moment, I'm trying to get my hands on some Klonopin/Valium.

What else should I stock up on to make these following weeks semi-bearable? I would normally just bite the bullet and deal with it - but my working conditions aren't very dopesick-friendly (not that many are). I gotta deal with being in a cooler/freezer, lifting heavy boxes all day, etc.

At this point do you have sufficient self-control to self-medicate with "therapeutic maintenance" doses of heroin or do you feel the temptation is too great to just start using again? This could tide you over for the time you will be unmedicated... problems could arise if you need to pass a UA though.

Or the alternative route, use this as a somewhat forced opportunity to get clean for good and never worry about being slave to a chemical again? I know I went this route over a year ago and life hasn't been better. :)

I'm not going to bother trying to making myself look better, so - no. For some reason, I never had any amount of self control - at ALL, with heroin. If I were to start buying it now, despite all the goals I make/rules I set - I will most certainly just become another dopefiend. I can't risk losing my place/job. So, I'd rather play it safe and simply not touch it again.

Suboxone has a longer half life than dope - while it's detoxing symptoms aren't nearly as bad as Methadones, I've been told they (Suboxone wd's) have a tendency to . I'm just griping about the 2 weeks WITHOUT Suboxone, that I will most certainly be dopesick/irritable for. I'm really just generalizing - Suboxone wd's could last longer than that - infact - I'm pretty sure they do (someone told me almost a month [accuracy?]) I could be wrong though, so please don't quote me.

Might be even less with an AAA card. It depends though. When I fill my script I try both, depends on the meds, though both give fairly significant discounts [over paying full retail].

I was in rehab with this guy and he said he did h once shot up and since then hes been sick without it I had no opiate problem but lied and said I was addicted to oxy so I got 8mg subutex it made rehab go by really quick cuz I felt like I was on oxy all day for the first week and a half in your case I would try to get alot of weed and some xanax bars or valuim

For the withdrawals, I reccomend what you have "prescribed" yourself, coupled with exercise(nothing too vigorous, walking/running as much as possible) and hot showers (helps "sweat" some of the toxins out.) I am fully aware that you will most likely not feel like doing these things. However, I just kicked a 6 year OC/dope addiction myself(hold the applause, it's only been like 2 months. Still a personal record). Anyways, my doctor (in hospital detox) told me to do these things, and I looked at him like he was nuts, but they really do help and cut down on the length/ferocity of withdrawals.

don't you just get a mate to lock you in a room with; one last killer hit, a tv, a bed, cans of soup, a pallet of water, a carton of cigarettes and a toilet and tell him not to let you out for two weeks. I always thought that's how you do it?

I found the exercise to be rather helpful. Eat some vitamins, stay active - etc. I don't really mind the physical symptoms of being junk sick, I just don't like the psychological part and all the fucked up shit that's going on in my head.

How long after my last dose before the Suboxone wd's set in (approx)? My last dose was about 72 hours ago. I had lotsa trouble sleeping last night, but I think it's unrelated.

Some kratom and benzo's would prob help you but the amount of money you'd be spending on kratom just to reduce the sickness would be silly. Could you not get your hands on a few 30mg avinza's and ration it out for the 2 weeks? Give yourself a low-ish dose like 60mg of M a day and then back onto the sub....

I'm slightly uncomfortable, and my bones are sort of achey. The problem is though, I'm an anxious guy, so this could very well be psychological. Does anyone know when the first symptoms of Suboxone withdrawl commonly begin? (Just a rough estimate, I know it has a long half life, but I'm not sure as to when I'll finally be feeling them)

I cant pretend to know a huge amount about opiate addiction but surely if the withdrawals are likely to last up to a month then 2 weeks without and your already half way there if not already there... Take everyone's advice on how to cut back the withdrawals and use this as an opportunity to kick this once and for all.

Come on man, you've clearly shown yourself already how strong you can be, and how you have the ability to follow your desires. If you have the suboxone, then make use of that, along with the ganja, and REALLY try and get some benzodiazapenes, they will help you enormously. It seems easy enough to get them in the States, if you're willing to pay, so bloody do it! Get a script from your doc, yo. I've heard telling doctors in the States you're a drug user is a bad idea, in terms of getting scripted stuff.... so be careful, although if you told him you're going clean it might "possibly" help you get some xanax or valium.

It's going to be tough man, fucking tough, but have faith in y'self, cos you really can do it. Once you push through weeks, it seems stupid to go back to looking for smack - at some point you have to make the choice between working a job and all the "life" stuff, however low it may make you feel at times, and the path to total addiction, from where it'll be a lot harder to crawl back from. It seems to me you're chasing the high, and tbh.... it's never coming back; heroin will give you your euphoria, and then take everything from you, when you go back for repeats, until you hate it with a passion. I've never been addicted to opiates, but i've seen n heard this happen. Obviously, this is your choice man, but having splashed out on the suboxone, now would seem like a good time to cut out the smack. If you're serious about cutting out the H, deleting your dealers' numbers and taking a break from junkie friends will help a great deal.... then find people who you really trust who'll be there for you.

Depression when coming off opiates is unbelievably common, as are cravings which continue past the physical stage, but both are totally beatable. Best to make sure the next week is not gona be unbelievably stressful and unmanageable, but also not so boring and unproductive that you end up scoring a bag.

The suboxone withdrawals? I've never thought they were that bad... methadone sucks (IMO approx 5x worse than OCs or dope) The last time I quit (the time I was refferring to) I was on a dose of suboxone that barely kept me from killing someone. When I stopped taking it, I had a shitty-feeling week starting 48-72 hours after my last dose. Couldnt sleep, in constant pain, headaches, fatigue. My sweats/shakes/seizures didn't come back though... You should be fine.

Transfering medication without a prescription is a criminal offence. You may want to think of the consequences before offer to give people medication. It is espeacially not smart to transfer a scheduled narcotic. only his doctor can help him.

It would be harder to wean off of heroin. You would have to dose multiple times per day. You would have to have the self discipline to not take more than your maintenence dose. It doesn't matter what opioid/opiate you take, it is not like you are getting addicted to another drug because they work on the exact same receptors. no matter what opioid/iate you take they still act on the same receptors. If it is a full agonist it is going to do the same thing as the next full agonist. The difference is how long it lasts.

buprenorphine is a little diffferent because it is only a partial agonist. That is why it was chosen as the new drug to get people off of opiates and opiods. It would be much easier to use buprenorphine because heroin is a full agonist and the temptation to get high will be there.

Suboxone withdrawal is TERRIBLE. It is easily almost as bad as h wd, and it lasts forever. Can you really afford to be sick for a month right now? I'm not sure what else you could do but I'm just warning you 3 days after you stop you will feel like dying. The way I always cold turkeyed was simple: xanax and weed. Works like a charm. I actaully felt good in a way...cause I didn't care how sick I was, I was relaxed, stoned , and on the road to recovery! But then I became addicted to benzos, so be careful. I'm still trying to get off the xan and this was forever ago...

They're legally required to treat you if you're having severe withdrawls. And if you're getting your insurance back, it should cover the backed bills from the emergency room visit anyways.

But, if they arent that bad, take benzos and sleep as much as you can.
