Alcohol on a Plane
Hello,
Does anyone here have experience bringing small amounts of alcohol in their carry-on luggage. I found some sources suggesting that there exists, as of 2006, a no-liquid policy (not even baby's milk).
But then how can this link be explained then?
http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm#10
I find some people that say its a big problem, while others say it's no problem at all. SO I'm hoping to find someone with experience of doing it in the past year or so. I'll be going from NY to Mexico, BTW.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Alcohol on a Plane
What do you mean by "small amounts"? Enough for a few drinks, or somewhere more along the lines of a pint or a quart? I'm assuming you're underage because otherwise you wouldn't have any trouble getting drinks once you're actually airborne. Almost right away they're in the aisles rattling off their drink list.

Re: Alcohol on a Plane
I actually just got back from Puerto Rico. I went on a 7 day, 7 island cruise and picked up 4 different litres of alcohol. I had no issues flying alcohol back in both my checked luggage and carry-on. Hell, after i went through security in Puerto Rico there were duty-free booze n smoke shops everywhere, right in the gates. So, i felt almost obligated to my self and friends at home to further stock my bar @ home by picking up 2 more litres in the airport before i actually boarded the plane to come home.
I'm sure what i did was illegal but it's insane to think about all the people that stock up on alchy while there on vacation in the caribbean. I seen many.
All in all, my suitcase had 4 litres of various rums and spirits(Captain Morgan Private Stock, 2 Bacardi, Absinthe :-)
And my carry-on had 2 cartons of Newports and 2 Litres of Johnnie Walker.
All the alcohol was ridiculously cheap compared to prices @ home, about 1/3 of the price on average i would say, and it being tax free is nice too.
I also got a nice deal on smokes, 2 cartons for 25 bucks. Newports @ home are nearly 70 bucks per carton!
Alright, I'm sure nobody cares to hear me ramble on anymore about how 'uber-sweet' my vacay was.
All I can say to the OP is, go for it and try not to be as greedy as i was and just stick with small amounts and wrap the bottles well if they're glass so they don't break. The shops gave me bubble wrap, so i used that and towels/sweatshirts also. Oh and make sure It's all in your checked luggage if your buying it in mexico. But once you get through security, if there are more liquor shops in the airport, you can put some in your carry on.
Good luck bro and safe travels.

I am 22, but I'm pretty sure that the flight is leaving very early (like 9AM), in which case I don't think they'll be serving drinks just yet. By small amount I mean like a 3oz bottle of vodka.
I tend to become very nervous on planes.

Ho ho, I think you might be in for a surprise.
Is pounding a few beforehand not an option or something? Even if you're driving there, and you REALLY need the drink, bring a little liquor with you in a water bottle or something, duck into the bathroom, chug that shit and toss the evidence. You said about 4 oz. or so which won't be enough to cause any kind of noticeable impairment concerning getting through security etc. pre-flight, IMO.
Can you get any benzos?

I'll drink quite a bit beforehand.
I actually thought this would be cool beforehand:

Yes, I am an alcoholic, which doesn't help my anxiety. I can get access to benzos, but its from a friend who only gets .25 mg pills.. I'll just have to take 8 or so. Ideally, I'll just take the benzos right before entering the airport, and sleep through the whole plane ride.

0.25 mgs? Perfect. I'm guessing that's Xanax, which will actually work just fine.
Just get like two of those pills, or even one, and keep the alcohol at 4 oz or so like you said. Even a very small dose of a benzo like that will potentiate the anxiolytic effects of the alcohol rather nicely; well, rather, they'll potentiate each other.
I normally wouldn't recommend benzos and alcohol, but at doses that low of each of them, you're not going to risk the blackout/slurring/falling down the stairs that idiots get when they swallow two bars and then put away a sixer.
Make SURE your friend only gives you one or two pills. That way if you start getting buzzed and your head is telling you "let's take a few more" they won't be there for you to do so.

yea, i forgot to mention it was generic xanax.. I'll prob take about 1 mg worth though.. i doubt that i'd feel anything from just .5mg. I used to take 4mg on top of drinking like it was nothing. I should be alright I guess. Thanks for the responses.

Ah, ok. Wasn't really sure. I used to dose like that all the time when I was heavy into the benzos-- I just didn't wanna throw a big dose at someone without benzo tolerance and have them passed out naked on the carousel at the baggage claim.

Yeah. It's fun and all, but I wouldn't wanna black out at the airport.

you were coming back and he's going out. that's a pretty big difference in itself. i bought a pack of a 100 marlboros and a 60 of tang coming back from mexico and had it on my carry on lol.
going TO mexico on the other hand was stupid as fuck. "cant bring toothpaste" "cant bring lipbalm" etc. and they'd check the fuck out of your carry on and you're luggage . . . . trippy shitty

Re: Alcohol on a Plane
You can totally order drinks on the plane early in the morning, liquor included, if that hasn't been clarified already.
I too get airplane anxiety (afraid of extreme heights + I never rode on a plane while growing up, first flight was post-9/11 with shitloads of turbulence) and generally need some kind of downer to get through the flight. They do limit you severely though. Probably first-class flyers are allowed to get a little drunk, but not us plebs in the back.
But whatever you do, man, don't order any weird mixed drinks they have on the menu. One time I ordered some weird-ass purple drink, because their beer selection was shit and I felt kinda shady ordering straight liquor in front of other people at like 8 AM. So I got this fruity purple shit and kept getting another one whenever the cart came around (coast-to-coast flight = multiple snack times). It was really diluted so I couldn't get much effect, but it was so fucking sugary that it made me feel sick. Combined with my airplane anxiety, I eventually had to go puke in the bathroom. Pretty embarrassing shit, I had blatant puke-breath for the rest of the flight, plus my tiny buzz was destroyed so I was flipping out and just generally looking like a fucking idiot.
Def go for the Xanax. I wouldn't recommend doing it before security though. I don't know about you, but I always end up forgetting something in my bag, like some kind of fluid or tiny scissors or whatever, and then I have to get hassled by the security people who treat you like a criminal by default. I would probably end up telling them to fuck off on Xanax, or somesuch stupid thing. For some reason benzos make me real aggressive when I feel hassled, despite being a placid drinker.

Re: Alcohol on a Plane
thanks for the replies everyone. for those saying that i am a teenager, well, i'm not. I am an adult. My concern is the limitations imposed on purchasing alcohol on a plane at EARLY TIMES. However, some of you have helped to mollify my concerns by reassuring me that alcohol will be served early. Thank you to those who've helped my mission, and "go fuck yourself" to those who troll.
