just put together:
1 small, clean river stone
1 part pasta,
4 parts chicken broth, from a can
1 part random veggie, from a can
1 part other random veggie, from a can
1 part any meat except chicken spread or tunafish, and
miscellaneous spices and seasonings.

Cook pasta along with the stone and drain off water. dump in the chicken broth, veggies, spices, and meat. Simmer until it tastes right. Eat. Fish out the stone and dry it off. Use it again and again.

What is the significance of the stone?

It adds it's own special flavor, depending on where you got it from.

Other than that, I think it's just so I can make jokes about "stone soup" and "stoned soup", because it does sound like something that a stoner would put together, just random cans of stuff

there's a children's book about stone soup. it's basically a ploy used by two animals to con a village into making them food. it kinda pissed me off as a kid. but it does exist in a lot of cultures.

I heard a different story when I was a kid. It was about three soldiers needing food. so this village gathered all t he scraps they could find and made a stew out of it. Every year at my elementary school they made stone soup on one day.
