Travel Websites
The Totse Traveller's Travail's Guide
Contents
1. General travel guides, advice and experiences
2. Places To Stay (Hotels, hostels .etc)
3. How To Get Around (planes, trains & automobiles)
This thread aims to be a resource for anyone who's considering to travel. You'll find information regarding accomodation, travel and much more.
To ensure that the information here is the best possible, please feel free to suggest some sites, and give a little description about what each site is about.
It'd be nice to get a range of resources from a variety of nations, so if you have knowledge of nations other than in the US or Europe, it'd be greatly appreciated!

Places To Stay / Accomodation
Hospitality Club
an excellent resource for free accommodation all over the planet with everyone from students to grandmothers. takes several weeks to register, but this place is invaluable. [Captain Asshat]
Couch Surfing
a very similar website to the one above, though it's had some issues with website administration and is having to rebuild it's user list. [Captain Asshat]

Ahhh ok, I might aswell delete the above posts.
Since the thread's been running, I've edited the OP to incorporate other people's links, and I just thought it'd be nice to continue doing that.

www.skyscanner.net
For THE cheapest flights. It searches all the major airlines and picks you out the best deals, but the greatest thing about it is that you can search entire months, or even the entire year and it'll pull you the cheapest flight going.
You can also do thing like search all the airports in a given country .etc
I got a flight to Katowice, Poland from London for £10, including taxes.

I shit you not. That's cheaper than what it costs me to get the train to London: which is 30 miles away.
It's also cheaper than my bus fare to work for 3 days.
Crazy times.
