Demethylation of codeine
Is there any alternative to pyridine HCl in the conversion of codeine to morphine? Pyridines highly impracticle since its so toxic and its definitely not OTC. Anyone here heard of any alternatives?

Re: Demethylation of codeine
Boron Tribromide. That's also toxic and not OTC, so methinks its not what you're after.

I'm not the one to say, but you should search the forums and the rhodium archive before asking questions like this, the conversion of codeine to morphine has been discussed multiple times over.
