Great children's movies
Chidren's movies are underrated. Nobody really takes them seriously, but there are some seriously stunning cinematic achievements in this overlooked genre. Many of them have more sophistication and depth than most adult-targeted movies coming out today. Some sweetass kiddie flicks:
Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. What a fucking classic. Look at this clip, doesn't this just warm the shit out of your heart?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3N-IvGhohvA
The Red Balloon. Fucking masterpiece, no question. I watched this many times as a child, and it still holds up today.
Yo.
5 words: Peter and the Motherfucking Wolf. For some reason I remember this being a full-length film, but I guess it's not. Still, fucking amazing, I loved this shit at age 5. Great soundtrack. A straight up classic.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit. If you've never seen this, you're young as hell. I saw this in theaters when I was 5 and cried when I saw cartoons being tortured. A deeply moving work.
Some real cold-blooded shit right here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwPkAUBr4Sc
Beetlejuice. No introduction necessary. Beetlejuice was a fucking G and everyone knows it. Had a major crush on gothed-out Winona Ryder in this when I was a kid. Some very dark and sophisticated comedy for a kid's flick.

I can't think of any truly great black children's movies. Most of the quality black children's entertainment was on TV -- the movies were usually boring corny stereotypical stuff about dem po little black kiddies rising above their environment and shit. Or ridiculous "Magical Negro" movies like that one movie with Shaq. Or stuff that was just weird and shitty like The Wiz, the black version of Wizard of Oz with Michael Jackson and Diana Ross. Of course, my favorite movie as a kid was Don't Be A Menace but that was rated R so it can't be included in this thread.
Let's see some more classic kidhood shit. Light up a blunt, get some Choco Tacos, and get in touch with your Inner Soul Child. It feels good.

My dad caught me watching that when I was little and I got in the shit. Guess he didn't really care if I was cool or not
I was mad for The Lion King when it first came out. I think we all were. In Grade Two, our teacher actually banned all things Lion king related in the classroom because she was that sick of it.
I also loved:
The Land Before Time (original)
The Brave Little Toaster
Aladdin
Milo and Otis
Daffy Duck: Quackbusters
And Bugs Bunny - 1001 Rabbit Tails. (I think this one got chewed by the VCR)
More recently I've really enjoyed the Pixar films. Especially The Incredibles, which I think is way too good for kids. I liked Shrek and Hoodwinked as well, and although its not brilliant, the Emperor's New Groove.
