Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. We want to hear what YOU have to say, not what some constipated, impotent, dead guy dreamt up while suffering from the DT's over a hundred years ago thought.

Default Obama giving himself some room

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0708/11517.html

It looks like Barack is starting the shift. He just said on TV that its in our strategic interest to not allow Iraq to fall apart. I'm glad he finally agrees with George Bush.

There is political progress, massive decreases in violence, and Barack Obama is beginning to turn into Bush III. Hell is freezing over.

So you think he's lying, and that even if he says that he will keep troops there, that he will re-reverse his position after he wins the election? No problem with that?
No problem if he, in fact, switches positions on the key issue that defined him?

That's what I'm saying. Why's everyone getting so close and comfortable with Obama? He really doesn't embody the representation of change and progress. Like he wants to attack Pakistan???

It's like in November I'm going to be voting for which country I'd rather invade.

McCain: Iran

Obama: Pakistan

I'm gonna have to stay conservative on this one though.

"I have said throughout this campaign that ... I would bring our troops home at a pace of one to two brigades per month and at that pace we would have our combat troops out in 16 months. That position has not changed. I have not equivocated on that position. I am not searching for maneuvering room with respect to that position."

Yeah...that sounds like he agrees with BUsh.

I hope the pundits are right: if Obama does get to be the president, he will have hell to pay if he goes against the Democratic party if he doesnt get the hell ut of Iraq as fast as possible.
