The best form of DMT to insufflate?
OK, I posted this in another thread, but that one was retarded and I got no serious replies. Also, I'm not sure if this belongs here or in LT, but it does deal with bioavailability, so I'd assume it'll be fine here.
Anyway, the question. If someone were to sniff DMT, which would be the best form to have it in? I'm assuming that the normal freebase would be terrible, just judging by the way other drugs work. Would an HCl be best? That seems to be the form that most insufflable (I don't think that's a word) drugs are in. Also, does anyone have an idea of the dosage of another form? I'm assuming that because you're changing molecular weight that it'd be much different.

The powdery kind, naturally. :D
Yes, you'll want a salt. Needs to be water soluble, otherwise it's just gonna drip down the back of your throat and do nothing. Dosage is somewhat unpredictable. Depending on the source, you'll have various amounts of inactive alkaloids and other active substances of various potency in there. Start small.

Re: The best form of DMT to insufflate?
It'll be pure white crystal from MHRB extracted with a STB with lye and freeze precipitated with naptha then given an ammonia wash. It could be cleaned more if necessary.
Any idea on a starting point with say an HCl?

Re: The best form of DMT to insufflate?
I'd give a tentative recommendation of 100mg. Haven't tried myself, but I'd go at least double your average smoked dosage.

Re: The best form of DMT to insufflate?
I do appreciate the advice, but I don't think I'd be comfortable doing more than twice a strong smoked dose. I understand that nasal bioavailability should be a lot lower, but I don't really want to get blown away. I was thinking starting at more like 20 mg and working my way up, depending on the info I can find about the molecular weight of the HCl vs freebase. I haven't found much yet.

Molecular weight of DMT = 188.269 g/mol
Molecular weight of HCl = 36.4606 g/mol
Molecular weight of DMT HCl = 188.269 g/mol + 36.4606 g/mol

I'll admit that I don't know much about chem, but that just doesn't seem like how it should work.
I did find this (http://www.dmt-nexus.com/forum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=1569) over at DMT-Nexus. Apparently the Tek won't work, but it gives me a melting point and the molecular weights. I've also been told now that the HCl isn't very easy to crystallize, and that I'd be better off going with the fumarate salt because most other forms are going to be very hygroscopic.

Re: The best form of DMT to insufflate?
That is exactly how it works. In fact that article you linked to calculates the molecular weight the same way it's just that fumaric acid has two protons to donate, the -NH2 group on the DMT molecule can only accept 1 proton to become -NH3+ and so you need two molecules of DMT per molecule of fumaric acid [assuming it worked], in the case of hydrochloric acid, HCl, a monoprotic strong acid, the ratio is 1:1. If you'd like to tell me how you think it should work? - I'd be happy to try and explain better, you really shouldn't be doing this sort of chemistry [even though an A/B on DMT is pretty basic] without a firm understanding of what it is that is actually going on.
I just gave you the molecular weights [and they are in agreement with that link] also the DMT wikipedia, or google could have done the same.
I only skimmed over that article but I didn't see any mention of melting point, besides the melting point of DMT fumarate [very different from the melting point of DMT freebase, which melts at around 49C just FYI].

Thanks for the info. I honestly don't know how I expected it to work, it just seemed too simple that 1 + 1 = 2. And I agree that I shouldn't do this without knowing what's going on. That's exactly why I'm asking here before I touch any DMT. Any more detailed explanations of anything would be much appreciated. Alternatively, if you've got some links that would help, or even some Google search terms, that'd be awesome, too.

Thanks again. This should help a lot. It's gonna be a little while until I have enough freebase to play around with this, but when I do, I'll be sure to report back.
