Default What's up with "RLS"?

I've noticed an increase in the frequency of pharmaceutical commercials advertising a treatment for this "restless leg syndrome". Seriously, restless legs? "Yeah Doc, my legs seem to be a little active, can you give me something?"I did a little research on RLS prescriptions and the active ingredient is a dopamine D2 and D3 receptor antagonist, meaning it induces the brain to produce dopamine. It was originally used for parkinson's disease patients. I tried to find out exactly which receptors THC acts on but with no luck.

So totse, does anyone know what specific domamine receptors THC binds to and have I found a Marinol substitute?

I thought THC binds to the cannabinoid receptor CB1 in the central nervous system, not dopamine receptors, at all.

A good amount of docs script Klonopin for RLS if Requip is ineffective.

I think I have RLS... it keeps me awake at night sometimes because I gotta keep moving, its mostly like my legs start to hurt if i don't move them a little bit all the time.

I'm constantly pumping my foot up and down too, like a nervous twitch. I can't stop it sometimes, like I'll have to physically hold my leg down to get it to stop thumping.

Weed seems to ease it, but doesn't totally cure it. All in all though, it isn't so bad. I never even thought about getting treated for it until I saw the commercials.

I have a doc appointment sometime soon, I'll ask what they can do about it then.

One of the potential side effects for that RLS drug is increased risk of gambling.

yes, because they act on dopamine. excessive gambling is a symptom of mania, along with hypersexuality and excessive spending. antipsychotic drugs that treat these symptoms suppress dopamine, doing pretty much the opposite of the RLS drug.

I know that, but it's funnier when you don't explain it.

I get that, but only if i haven't done any exercise that day. Jog or take up a sport or something.

I always viewed RLS as an excuse or reason for them to manufacture and sell more pharmaceuticals.

Indeed, Darkus. Because then they will be like "Oh yea dude, I gamble all the time. I'm so RLS."

Heh... you aren't very smart are you?

I think mine might be caused by a huge influx of caffeine everyday. Stimulants make you move. Like crack addicts can't sit still for too long without twitching or some shit.

And you are such an all knowing drug wizard. Give me a fucking break. Maybe you should stop taking such a "huge" amount of caffeine instead of wasting money on needless prescriptions? Your theory on RLS is hilarious.
