From what I've read on erowid, there have been many reports of people noticing diminished effects of LSD after starting to take SSRI's like Celexa, Paxil, Prozac, etc. But there haven't been many formal studies on the interactions of the two drugs, so...

Has anybody had any personal experience with this? Just wondering because I started Celexa a little over a month ago and I'm going to trip for the second time this weekend and I want to blow my mind again. I hate getting excited to trip and then getting a bunk dose. Either way, I'll ask my dealer if he knows how potent the hits are, test the waters with a tab or two, wait an hour, and see where it goes from there.

i've only taken acid once, two tabs, on 50mg zoloft and i tripped for sure

if you're on the lower end of the dosage spectrum for celexa, you should be fine

Everytime I was taking SSRIs and took acid it sucked...not in like a bad trip way, but just lack-luster, for lack of a better way to describe it. Definitely not a clean trip.

Here's my advice...since NO ONE gave me any decent half assed advice I had to figure this one out myself.

With the SSRI, even on a lower dose, acid wont be blowing your mind. Also, even if you take 50 hits of acid, it still wont strengthen it. DON'T UP THE DOSE, IT'S NOT DOSE DEPENDENT, IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MUCH ACID YOU TAKE, YOU WONT BE ABLE TO GET A BETTER TRIP. Sorry that was in caps, I just don't want you to waste your cid. You can try one hit and see if you like it or not but its not much fun...you are better off doing 1 of 2 things.

1. Stop taking the SSRIs for a week. If your parents count them, then just flush one down the toilet every day...don't throw it away in case they see it in the garbage. Two weeks if you are patient and want to play it safe, 3 weeks to be ABSOLUTELY sure. You cant just stop taking them for one day. Are you having any side effects? A good marker to tell its finally wearing off is if the sexual side effects have worn off (it doesn't take you an hour to wack off anymore, you're back to normal)

2. Find some shrooms. Although people say these are negatively effected by SSRIs (the effects aren't as strong) I didn't run into this problem. I ate maybe a bit over an 1/8th and I was tripping balls. If you still want to do the cid really bad then cool, just eat shrooms when you're bored for the 2 weeks you are waiting and then you should be set to trip acid. I know a lot of people prefer acid to shrooms but honestly i could live off shrooms forever, seriously love them.

That definitely helps, and I decided I'm gonna take two hits and see how it goes.

I'm only on 20mg Celexa, which is definitely the lower end of the spectrum. I'll stop taking it today and hope for the best I guess.

yeah man, i read somewhere theres a certain thresh hold, and then past that you cant trip any harder if you are on SSRIs..

and dude, its wednesday, just wait for the weekend. 3 days of not taking that celexa will make all the difference. i know being patient is hard im just trying to help you not make the same mistake. unless you got plenty of extra acid sitting around

SSRI's can interact dangerously with acid, they work on the seritonan in your brain and spinal fluid, and thats where acid is stored in your body. when you take a dose of your ssri, the ssri particles can knock off a stored lsd crystal and cause a flashback. this can happen during everyday things such as exercise etc, but ssris greatly increase your risk.

thats the sort of thing that makes me wonder "what exactly does joepedos refrigerator and freezer look like?"....

i could see it being just being food in there...
but it wouldn't surprise me to see blotter stacked to the top or vials of crystal...

I don't really know much about it from a research stand point. I do know that celexa didn't affect my mushrooms or LSD enough that I noticed.

i shroomed on 40mg prozac and i tripped pretty hard. havent tried acid yet, but im off prozac so it shouldnt be a problem

but like what house said, go a while w/out the meds. i think my doctor said that it takes prozac 14 days to completely be out of your system. but wikipedia says celexa's half life is 35 hours. can anyone verify this?

I think this thread is ancient but it was still on my browser, so for curiosity yes, that's how long you should wait. It's not going to be exact obviously but the drug is still affecting your processes.
